Hi everybody. I've been lurking here for awhile and I guess I should introduce myself. I'm Rich Strange and I live in the suburbs of Portland, Oregon. Thanks to Julie and Bobbin for their gracious reply to my question about Portland coaches last year.
I'm a newbie. I haven't worked yet (school and work make it difficult to audition at the moment). I have, however, taken two telecourses and a 3-day intensive workshop from James Alburger and Penny Abshire who have helped and encouraged me tremendously. Now, if I could practice and audition more... Thanks for letting me read and participate here among all you pros! Rich Strange Hillsboro, Oregon |

Welcome, Rich. I'm not a pro VO yet. Not even close yet. But feel it is getting close. As I get braver, I will share my demo-in-progress.
Hopefully we can all help and encourage each other here. There is so much to learn. All resources are important and making friends is always good in every facet of our lives. Again, welcome!! Sue |

Rich, I'm glad you're here on the boards. Portland is a great area. I have some family across the river in Vancouver, and love it there when we visit. Best of luck in Voice-overs in 2008.
Since you are starting out on this "journey", I would love to have feedback from you as you progress, as part of my new Voice-Over Journey podcast. It is a show where I hope to have other voice actors that are making their livings solely from voice overs, share their progress and suggestions. You can find the podcast in iTunes or at my blog at VoiceOverJourney.Libsyn.com and you can call in your comments to the show's voicemail at (206) 350-4610. Just a thought. Together, here on the boards, and perhaps on the podcast, we can all arrive at a nice voice-over career. Wayne

Hello Rich - and Welcome!
Wow, you've got a fantastic name... gotta ask - is it real or stage? Hope you're studing to be a doctor at school ;-) You'll find lots of people here to help you on your journey, and some good info to boot. Sounds like you already have a great start. Looking forward to hearing more from you. Cheers, Joe J Thomas Joe J. Thomas Acting Portfolio |

Welcome from the foothills of the Ozarks, Rich! You're already ahead in the game by having some training under your belt. That's a huge deal. Keep it up! Look forward to hearing more from you...

Thanks Joe. Yup, it's my real name. When I was on the air, I went by "Rich Andersen" because "Strange" was just too....well, strange. :-) Nope, not studying to be a doctor but maybe someday.
At least I finally got my parents to quit referring to me as "Dick" (shudder). Well, it's nothing that years and years of therapy can't fix. :-) |
