I've really enjoyed lurking around for the past week or so, and I fugured it was about time to say hi.
In just a short period of time I have really gotten a lot out of reading the threads here, so let me just start by saying thank you. I am starting from scratch .... and by scratch I mean .... no demo ... no website .... just a few VO classes here and there. (looking forward to the rocks starting up again Bob..........) Voiceover has been in my heart for some 20 or so years ... but my brain has been making excuses against it for that same period of time. So ... armed with a bit of ambition ...... little money ..... but a new microphone..... here we go. Thanks for the great site Julie. |

Welcome to the forums Sparticus! It's good to see another So-Cal voice-over talent on the boards. Good luck in 2008! Wayne

you... Are... SPARTACUS!!!
Hey, nice to meet you ;-) I'm also out in LaLa Land - plenty to do on the VO front out here, that's for certain. You're in a great locale for a starting point! Hope to hear more from you on the forums - Welcome! Joe J Thomas Joe J. Thomas Acting Portfolio p.s. Bob's got a Q&A section here, and always has great VO karma... |

Welcome. I just joined this forum too. I started vo'ing about 6 months ago. Just decided it was time after 22 years of travel and 80 hour weeks. So, I went to my local store and stroked a check for everything I could possibly need including a comfy leather chair and one of those coffee cup warmy things.
It's one long and winding road as the song goes. I fight the learning curve every time I sit behind the mic and it never stops. From being totally lost when the software did something strange to being my own worst critic to being just plain sick and tired of doing another audition that I'm certain won't pay off. Bottom line for me is, one day I'll have my first last fruitless audition and that keeps me going. I'm in Charleston SC and the VO business stinks here. No classes, no market, no groups so I just troll boards and try to keep motivated. I'm working on a website and trying to produce my own demo which is like having your gums scraped because I don't know how to do either but I'm trying and that's what matters. It beats watching Jerry Springer all day. May your sword be true and your shield strong, Spartacus! Long live Caesar.....Salad! |

Thanks for the welcome everyone!
Pierce ... I have not seen it ..... I am not sure if I want to ... it looks funny, but I have not seen a good "spoof" movie in 10 years or so they seem to go down hill quickly when you get beyond the credits. Listened to some of your work .... sounds good. Joe ... Nothing like La La Land to drive a person crazy ... er ... I mean ... get a person started ....... Some great classes around here. I think my next step has got to be to find a group. Carl ... Good Luck ... sounds like you have the great opportunity to start that market up and make it your own. |
