Default The Newest Newbie

Hello everyone,
To say I am a newbie is quite an understatement. I have been a nurse since 1977, I know nothing about voice overs, but throughout my life I have had people comment on my voice. Yesterday, someone at work said you really ought to look into voice overs. So here I am, 2 days before my 52nd birthday posting this entry in your forum. Do you think I'm crazy?

Hey Aubrey,

Thanks very much for the intro.
I took the liberty of moving your post to it's own thread (just a bit of nettiquette - hope you don't mind ;-)

It sounds like you're at the beginning of the path. Many of us started out where you are, and hopefully, can be of some use in avoiding some pitfalls ahead.

Crazy? You're asking the wrong guy about that!

Like any goal worth achieving, VO will take a fair amount of work and learning. Have you done any acting on stage, or maybe improv? Both are good ways to create characters and find the message in the underlying text. Or maybe you've done some singing? That's a great way to know the capabilities and limits of your instrument. There are also a number of good books reviewed in the "Feedback and Review" area...

Congrats on taking the first steps!

Take a look around the forum. Many questions have been addressed, and if you don't see something, feel free to ask. Plenty of helpful folks around...

Hope to hear more from you,
Joe J Thomas

Great! Keep that good outlook.

You might see if you can find a local community theatre in your area, or even a scene study group or acting class. Plenty of roads to follow...

Happy Journey,
