Hello to all on the board, Chris Mezzolesta typing in from Wilmington NC on the hot n steamy southeast coast...
I'm a 17-year VO who got into it sorta by accident, in 1990 a local Cleveland (where I lived til last year) ad producer called the music & entertainment company I co-founded looking for a rapper, and my partner said they had a musician on staff who also did character voices...thus was born my VO career - moved from that to lots of singing spots back in the day when local indies played 8:00 movies, any goofy characters, even a bunch of straight stuff. I was the voice for 2 of the Central Fla FOX stations (35 in Orlando and 51 in Ocala) from 1995 to 2000, Dairy Mart thru the Midwest in 98-99, and basically a lot of sundry local & regional stuff. Lots of fun, and being a recording & production freak, hanging around state-of-the-art recording studios was hardly the worst place I could be!!! I am also a housedad, a professional musician of 25 years (all-occasion bands, jazz groups & orchestras) and the performing member of comedy rock band POWER SALAD (www.powersalad.com or www.myspace.com/powersalad ) We have been on the "Dr Demento Show" many times including last year's #3 song, the surreal and bizarre "My Cat Is Afraid of the Vacuum Cleaner". Video of my previous band in Cleveland can be seen at http://www.specialproductions.net/sp...ial_blend.html (I have been edited out of any lead vocal spots but am still there in the videos, I wrote the band and vocal arrangements and did the audio recording of the band). I am sure I came off sounding very sour on the "other" forum, but I felt I had a genuine beef, as evidently did others, judging from agreement messages I received regarding my posts. I am looking forward to a fun and pleasant time on this board with no rancor. now Let's Work!! Chris Mezzolesta chrismezzolesta.voices.com www.commercialvoices.com/platinum/CMezzolesta/ |

Nice to see you here Chris.
I think I also came off as a little sour toward the end over on Savvy. Being a positively motivated person I needed a positivity boost, and this seems like just the place. I look forward to some fun over here.

I am relatively new to the Wilmington area and am hoping to get my feet wet in the VO industry. Since I've moved here I've been doing lots of background acting and stand-in work with the movie studios. I was wondering if you could give me any advice on how to get started doing VO. I have had some audio engineering experience in SanFrancisco and at Ante UP studios in Cleveland. I too make some comedy music. You can check out my songs on youtube under jessebobhimself , Smashing Boxes and Mudman are some of my favorites. How did you get on the Dr.Demento show? that is awesome.
Sincerely, Jesse Burr |
