Default Another Smart-OutCast

I suppose I should officially check in. I'll confess to a couple of pre-Hello posts.
Like the talented Joe J. Actor, I, too, am a V123 Savvy orphan. I finally snapped today (Joe was right all along), and am now looking for other venues for my VO graffiti.
I can no longer play in the V123 sandbox.

Looking forward to cyber-meeting you all,

Voice On!

Ah, but welcome, my dear fellow viking-friend!
That said, I still don't understand your need to leave the Savvy-board completely behind...

A while back, remember the "Titanic/Carpathia" gimmick, where loads of us Savvy's moved overhere? Well, truth is, that there was some action here for a few days, and then slowly people (with a few exceptions) moved back to Savvy.

I really like this place. I feel the atmosphere here is more... loose? On Savvy, you feel like a small part of a large family. Here, you feel like a big part of a small family! As much as I like this, however I tend to visit this place more on a weekly basis rather than a daily basis at the moment.
My deepest respect for Julie's, Dan's & Steven's job on running and moderating this site, but honestly, not a lot goes on here... The ratio of daily post here opposite Savvy is surprisingly low.

Sure, I know there are other boards like Deirdre's, but I still can't figure out, why this lovely place is so quiet.

That's why I personally stick to the Savvy-board, for my daily doze of VO-blahblah. I get your frustrations with the V123-Mothership, but hey... I'm a standard, non-paying member of V123, and to be able to post on Savvy was the only reason I joined V123 in the first place! What I'm saying is, that I feel it is possible to stay on the Savvy-board and disregard all the frustrating V123-nonsense... if one like.

Now, all that said, I would like nothing more to see this place grow! And it has to start with ourselves, right?

So, to quote a very good friend of mine:

VOICE ON!

Thanks for that note Jacob. I don't understand why anyone has to feel an exclusivity to one board or another. Savvy is free and has a heritage of which I am a big part. It saddens me to see some of the old time main players avoid it like the Plague. Even as a moderator over there, I have my SmartCast gripes. I'm not a "mouthpiece" for 123 at all. I just like the history and camraderie of Savvy. This forum is great too. I've had a lot of fun down in the "Ask Colin" thread here. I tend to take a bit of a back seat here mostly making sure the "ask" thread is taken care of. As a moderator "over there" I feel I should concentrate more on Savvy but why should anyone be a "one forum person."

I understand it is bad form to persuade people from one forum to another and I don't mean to do that AT ALL. I just ask that the Savvy "old timers" stop in once in a while over at "TOF." Robert... THIS MEANS YOU! (...and Joe J. too.)

I'll shut up now.

I agree totally. You know, It's not that long ago I discovered the Savvy-board by sheer coincidence. Being a VOA, and a forum-junkie in general, it was a total blast for me. I cannot describe how much I've learned from it in such a short time. Then, I realized that there were OTHER forums aswell! (Well, it took me a while to figure out, what the hell people were refering to by "TOF" )
So now I'm a regular at Savvy, this place, and has just put in an enquiry to DB's forum. And if I learn about other places to mingle, be damn sure I will dig it.

Robert! Great to see you here. I completely understand how you feel, Brah... We're happy to have you and your twisted sense of humor on board ;-)

Colin: I've got no beef with the Savvy users, just with the company that sponsors the board. Lie down with dogs, wake up with fleas.

Here's an extreme example: Let's say you and your friends always meet at the same bar after work. You have a good time, and enjoy the company. Then you find out that the bar is funded by money from illegal activities. Why would you stay when there's another bar right across the street? It's the people that are important, not the location.

Voice 123 has some serious issues, on both a business and personal level. I don't wish to be associated with them or their propaganda machine. And thanks to Julie, I don't have to.

Got my cake, and I'm eating it too!

Welcome Robert!!!

Robert and Colin,

Great to see you guys again! Robert, I understand your need to move on. I had to do the same. I met some wonderful people at Savvy, but there was just too much drama for a simpleton like myself. I still "lurk" occasionally, but not that often. I also agree with Colin; there's no need to pledge allegiance to one forum or another. There are lots of places to learn and grow, and I'm glad I found this one.

Well, it's nice to know where I can find you guys. For being a mod over there, they gave me six months free at 123 and that will run out soon so I guess it will be decision time for me AGAIN. Just when I think it's not worth it, I get a SmartCast job. Ug.

Oh well... Ill try to come here more often to hang wit' you guys.

I just recently joined this board and the voiceoversavvy board after thinking that the vo-bb was the only board in the universe. Go figure.

Hi Jacob...the way for the forum to have more going on...is for more people to stay here> i am doing what I can... I've got a great panel of experts, I get some pretty awesome review products for people... but if they decide to go to savvy instead... what can I do?

Hi Colin... 6 months free is about $150. (new rate is about $300/yr right?) How many hours are you expected on the forum for that? I am glad you haven't totally left us.
