I resolve to complete my endeavor, begun this year, to overcome my sinus issues that have prevented me exploring a VO career.
I resolve to make those many persons who have encouraged me, in no uncertain terms, to “go for it” to say “yes, he did it!” I resolve to research and learn something new about the VO field every day. I resolve to not only continue honing the many characters already in my repertoire, but to practice other areas in which I can expand my horizons. I resolve to make a concerted effort in balancing bill-paying work and other considerations to attend the Voices 2008 conference. I resolve to increase my business acumen regarding the VO world. I resolve to use crisp communication to turn commanding contacts into clients. I resolve to, while working up the ladder of the VO industry, make sure that others know that I’m not the person of the same name who appeared on American Idol. And even though I’m typing this at literally the eleventh hour (EST) of December 24th, I resolve to make this text exactly 200 words so I don’t have to cue Journey and cut to black before the limit is… |

It all started with the typical, "You have a great voice...you should do voiceovers!"...only to find out the voiceover field is extremely anonymous.....hard to get into..hard to find out about! I have taken several workshops, hustled, and found my own VO work...but now it's time to take it to a higher/more professional level...with voiceovers.com I now have tools available for exposure, job resources, classes, and forum discussions...this will enable me to pursue more avenues within the VO industry...tenacity is my fortitude....we all ride high, only to experience the envitable lows of the industry...but I always bounce back...looking forward to a prosperous 2008 in the voiceover world!
Merry Christmas! |

I, Jon Specht, will buy custom made post cards to market myself to radio and television stations. I will get 2 more agents to rep me for commercial work. I will invest in telecoaching. And I will attend at least one voice over workshop.
In 2008 I will explore and invest in google ad words or something similiar to help my website. By year's end. I will have 5 more TV stations and 10 radio stations. And at least one audio book under my belt. So let it it be written. Thanks, Jon

Resolution
Resolve all issues, whom I’ve imposed my will. Resolve those conflicts, it’s a bitter pill. Enjoy the process, the journey, the trip. That’s where the gold is, if you don’t quit. Share some knowledge, with one in need. Don’t hoard my time, for that’s just greed. Offer my services, to a cause that’s dear. Make contributions evident. Make them clear. Love my wife, my family, each day. The words I love you, I promise to say. Understand my goals. Prioritize my strife. Utilize my time. Improve my life. Take the time…to pray each day…Thank God for all He’s passed my way. Ignore the temptations that haunt my past. Change just one thing, and make it last. Outsource the gifts…that come my way. It does take a village to save the day. Now some resolutions may seem too deep, but all I hope is one to keep. If we all did that…just kept one. A better world…has just begun. |

Marc Cashmen has a special message:
An open letter to all contestants: I'd like to say to everyone who entered this contest that your submissions were very well thought out, extremely creative and quite inspiring. I want to encourage those of you who plan on taking more voice acting classes. The best actors never stop learning. I want to suggest that you don't make a V-O demo until you're really ready, and to get help from a pro to make it competitive. I admire you for focussing on your goals and working every day to realize them. And I want remind you that you can email me any questions about the business through Voices.com or call any time. I wish you all much success for a great '08! Marc Cashman Cashman Commercials/L.A. 661-222-9300 cashcomm@earthlink.net

Thanks for posting that Julie. Thanks to you too Marc. Thanks for the encouragement and the want to help us all. I can't think of another industry that has that kind of compassion toward it's competitors. It lets you know the passion artists have for their craft and the drive to always better the quality in our art. Remember the gifts you receive from your mentors and those more experienced and pass those gifts along. It will insure we are all successful.
To everyone else that entered let me say good luck and to everyone entered or not much success to all of you in 2008. |
