While simple, my New Year’s Resolution is a big one (for me at least). I have been donating my voice for various online communities for a while now. My goal for 2008 is to finally get my VO career off the starting level. I don’t live in NY or Cali, but I think I have a natural spark that needs to become a flame of decent proportions.
How will I become such a flame? By getting a better site together, by getting some (self-made) demos up and by sending them to whomever I can. Also try and get some business cards made up for networking purposes. All in all I know must of the people here are in the vo industry already, and I know things take time, and that they are most likely more deserving of this contest then I. I can only hope that 2008 brings me good fortune in my (serious) voice acting career. All of you have really great goals for 08! Sincerely and truthfully, best of luck to all of you for making your resolution happen! |

Voice Over Resolution(s) 2008
I will rehearse and use my 15 second Pitch with every new potential client I meet ( in person or on the phone). I will plan out my marketing strategy so that each of my clients receives at least 6 client touches per year. I will always follow up with client after receiving final payment to say thank you and to suggest some feedback. I will update my commercial demo with copy from national commercials, so I can step up my exposure to national advertisers and look into presenting it to agents. i will continue to network to maintain the best talent in my company roster and continue to collaborate with really good fun people. I will record my first audiobook -- probably in Spanish. I will continue with my acting, voice coaching and workshops and seminars on audio recording. I am a life long learner. I will be ready for serendipitous opportunities. Adela Bolet The voice heard around the world www.AdelaBolet.com |

I, Jack Shaw, being of sound mind (well sometimes), do hereby resolve to re-enter the voiceover market with the same gusto I did in the 1980s. I will no longer rely on just one client to tide me over. I will also practice my craft no less than one hour each day using exercises of which I am already aware and may learn on this forum. I will get back to the voice variety I maintained twenty years ago. I further resolve to help guide new persons who wish to enter this incredible business.

MY NEW FAVORITE THINGS Name slates and levels, attention their needing Demo so old, my agent’s ear’s bleeding Copy that’s crappy, delivery that sings These used to be some of my favorite things Not getting calls, my day planner’s lonely Invest in myself, be the one and only Sound like a real guy, announcers they’ll bounce No lag on quick tag, on each word I’ll pounce What’s a call back What’s a booking I must look within Invest in myself and attaaaaach no string Back to voice claaaass I’ll begin Pushing the limit, the shading is endless Open your mind, and become relentless Retakes and outtakes result in cha-chings Now these are all of my new favorite things Here’s the moral Learn the lesson Think scale plus ten Earn a commission with eaaaaaaach session Pension and welfaaaaaaare, you’ll win |

(ooops)
I resolve in 2008 to more carefully read contest instructions. Written? I thought we were VO people. Oh well. Abashedly Yours,

My new year’s revolution is to not fear others in charge any longer. If I believe in my talents and trust that I will make the right decisions, my confidence can no longer be shaken. As long as I prepare myself for the opportunity, I cannot be beat! My talents can benefit both decision makers and myself. To think that creativity has taken a backseat to money in the entertainment industry can only discourage someone who aspires to be in the voice acting business. However, if I continue to create my own leads and projects, it will bring me closer to ensuring my success without letting others hinder me from my true passion and dream --- be a working voice acting artist. Bring it on big wigs!

Voice overs. voice overs...the thought seems to linger
Would I be good at it? Cause I'm a really good singer I sing jingles and demos and have songs on TV And I wanted to know if V-O is for me Apparently the skill sets for both are aligning Voice tone, projection, diction and timing Using my voice is my life long passion And I'm kicking some ass according to Marc Cashman I took his beginning class; I was already advanced Though I'd never done V-O's, I just took a chance I could sell toothpaste and movies and more I just need to get started on my repertoire Please help me fulfill all my dreams and my hopes Give me a chance and teach me the ropes! -Nadia |
