Bob,

It's great to hear you're going to be there this year.
Really looking forward to hearing you speak.

Wonderful attitude and business sense. Sometimes it's hard to keep drive and a positive attitude in a competitive venue such as VO, but you seem to have them in spades!

I'm basically looking at this as a networking opportunity. Learn a bit, get my name out there, chat with friends and vendors. Heck, I spent more on classes and PR coaching last year.

I would like to get some more details on who's who for the panels, but we've still got a bit of time for that to come down. I'm sure we'll hear much more prior to the end of the "early bird" price ending.

Hope you're having a great, relaxing weekend,
Joe J Thomas

p.s. see you at the bar, Amy ;-)

Bob - You da Man!!! I for one appreciate all of the time you have put in listening to my many crazy questions and your feedback has been completely up lifting. You are a testament of how many great folks are out there in the VO world (Jon wipes his nose a bit). I suppose those many sessions with Daws have rubbed some of his sharing attitude on to you. Now wouldn't a tribute to Daws at VOICE be great?
Any plans to show your "One Man Show" this year?

I too would like to hear more about what they have to offer at VOICE this year, but after listening to the VOICE2007 DVD over and over I had already made up my mind that I would attend this year at all costs.

The event(s) that Frank, Greg and Bettye mentioned sounds interesting as well.

Dude, Daws is absolutely one of the professionals I was referring to, among others. His VO workshop was $10 or a handshake, whatever you happened to have that week. And he made oodles of appearances without taking a dime.

FYI-although VOICE promoters aren't paying appearance fees for speakers and instructors, they are paying their travel and hotel expenses. So folks get a free trip to LA!!! I'm fortunate in that I already live here. ;-)

Not sure about my one man show this year. I did it last year, and I think doing something different would be of more value to this year's attendees.

Though one of my personal networking reasons for participating in VOICE is to spread the word I'm taking my show on the road! So folks from around the country can get info on how to book my show at theaters or colleges in their town!!

And as far as other guests, since many names haven't been listed on the VOICE website yet, I can't say specifics..but I've heard some really awesome folks are coming!!!!!

Stay tooned!!!!!

I am almost 100% decided that I'll be at VOice 2008. I had to miss Voice 2007... No, they're not paying presenters... and that's easier for those who live in L.A., of course... but I"m only a cheap hour flight away from there.

I"d love to see Pat Fraley again, shake hands with Bob Bergen in person, meet Deb Munro, and others with whom I correspond but have never actually met... and of course... perhaps the most important reason to go... to meet JOE ACTOR! :)

Seriously, I think it'll be a big party and I'm looking forward to going, and bringing one of my students with me as an assistant. I'll be doing a little bit of one on one coaching there, and have a booth with stuff like free resources for talent, and some retail products at discounted prices.

And Frank... some of us CAN do BOTH your gig and Voice 2008!

Hee hee - thanks for the compliment Julie! Glad you'll be there - it'll be a treat to meet you in person! Plus I'll get to see Bob again, and chat with some people I only e-know...

Excellent!,

Julie,

That is my hope: that folks may participate in several events for our VO community.

Bob,

Like you I offer a lot of "free" service on several boards. I also was given help when I needed it and it was freely given by many great folks in our industry. I believe in giving back for what I have been given.

et al: I wish the promoters of VOICE 2008 the best. The event will be one to remember I am sure, as the events leaders always put on a good show.

Toodles

Default Voice 2008

Thanks Jon for the compliment. I really enjoyed VOICE 2007, but I am not sure if I will be attending VOICE 2008 due to other commitments and pending knee surgery. I wish on Super Bowl Sunday I could attribute it to an "old football injury", but it wasn't. Fortunately I would be close enough to drive and I would love to see Amy and the rest of the gang.

I hope all can attend what ever event they choose - hopefully more than one.

Bob, I really enjoyed your one-man show and your question from the audience to Don LaFontaine, got a real chuckle out of it. Sorry we didn't get to talk other than briefly on the panel discussion.

Frank, I am looking forward to hearing more.

Betty, sorry for your disappointment, we have to go with our heart on these decisions. I respect that.

Julie, thank you for providing the forum.

'Interesting thread on VOICE....

As many of you may remember, I was lucky enough to be the MC for last year's event in Vegas.

I hope to attend this year's as well, in SoCal... the event was such a wonderful way to connect, for learning, networking, and opening doors.

I understand others may have differing viewpoints about VOICE, but there's no doubting the value in coaching, seminars, webinars, and conferences in furthering a voice-actor's career.

Such a wide spectrum of opportunities exist for learning, coaching, and gathering together, that it's worth looking into what's right for you before choosing and commiting time and money.

Dave - Awesome! You did a marvelous job as MC at the VOICE2007. I couldn't imagine anyone better for the job than yourself.

All - For those who did not attend VOICE last year or have not heard the DVD, Dave was lucky enough to introduce all of the VO artists. On the DVD, you can hear Dave's voice at the beginning of every panel. He certainly was one of the highlights of the event.
