    Default Hello from Calgary Alberta

    Hi All,

My name's Dana Negrey (and yes, I'm A Guy!) based out of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Besides being famous for the Calgary Stampede - The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth, we're also famous for the weather predictions that never are. :-)

I'm looking forward to reading what others have to say and to offer a thought or two of my own.

    Thanks for reading!
    Cheers,
    Dana

    Hi Dana!

Nice to see you on this board.

This board is really turning out nicely.

    Hi, Dana! Welcome aboard!

I've known a number of people named Dana, only one other was a guy - but he was the second Dana I'd met, and we were friends for almost a decade before we wandered apart (stupid high school graduation). I find it interesting there aren't more male Danas running around. It's a great name! :)

Welcome to the good place Dana...Calgary is a cool part of the world! Is the Stampede as exciting and fun as everyone describes it?

Thanks for all the warm welcomes, everyone :-) I'm looking forward to sharing ideas with everyone.

BTW, I think Dana's a great name for a guy, too [chuckle]. It never ceases to amaze me when I announce my name, people look me in the eye and say, "Isn't that a girl's name?" My standard reply is to poke myself and say, "Well, I don't feel like a girl..."

Jon, the Stampede is loads of fun, even for people who aren't into rodeo and cowboy stuff. The entire city is part of the celebrations. For instance, every morning for the entire Stampede run, businesses serve up free pancake breakfasts in classic cowboy tradition. Some of the best bands in the business hold concerts each night during Stampede, and if you're lucky, you can catch them playing for free on an outdoor stage somewhere. There's dancing and good times all 'round. Also, Calgary is host to Spruce Meadows, one of the world's main horse-jumping arenas. So, people who are into "English rodeo" get a chance to celebrate, too. It's well worth the trip here to partake!
    Cheers,
    Dana

Default Welcome, Dana who's not a girl!

Join the fun! :) Party's just getting started...

I've known guys who were named Dana, Lindsay, Jody, Terry, Kelly and I'm sure many other feminine-sounding names, as well as girls named Blake, and the standard unisex names like Chris, Alex and Pat.

Alexis can be male or female, too. I shot a scene in a student film with a guy named Alexis. That was a little unusual, I'll admit. First time I've been in the same room with a male Alexis, weird to have someone call my name and a guy answer to it at the same time I do! :)

    Welcome!

Thanks for the welcome Alexis :-) You've got a great name... very memorable - I think thats a good thing in this business!

It is different to hear someone else respond to your name, I agree...

Growing up, I rode the bus to school with another boy named Dana. Rare sort of name at the best of times, and here we were, sitting seats apart, turning our heads at the same time when our name was called. Of course, if it was about something good, I did my best to take credit for it.

    Cheers,
    Dana
