Okay, so...I'm in the process of collecting videos for a video reel for myself. I've got a reasonably solid collection going so far, and I think I could probably edit it together myself...but I'm wondering if that's wise. So for those of you out there with video reels, did you put your own together, or have someone else do it?

For my own demos, I just cut together existing spots.

Since they're already edited, it's a little easier to just pick the order and cuts.

I also think the Video demo for VO is still an oddity or passing fad - meh... never know!

I use Sony Vegas for the editing, btw.

All my stuff is on YouTube (including some new promos for my Voice 2012 presentation ;-)

Thanks Joe! I agree, I'm not placing my video reel in the same realm of importance as my actual demos, but I wanted to avoid making myself look like an idiot if there was anything I should have avoided in the editing process.

And great video reel, by the way.

    Hi Dave,

I used video on my narration demo, only because the demo contains longer clips and I think it helps with continuity. It's the same demo as my audio demo, just with video.http://vimeo.com/27508988

I don't know how effective it is, but when people ask for a demo, I forward them the link. Since narration demos are lengthy, I think it keeps their attention span longer than just listening to a variety of clips. They can also see how the delivery matches the video, which I think may be a more valuable tool than just the audio.

I do my own demos and for the video demo I used "Power Director" by Cyberlink.

I know that this board is pretty dry these days, so I thought I'd hop in and offer an opinion. Hope it helps.

Sure, Rick, thanks for chippin' in! I know this board doesn't see a ton of activity nowadays, but one of the reasons I like this board is because the people who post here are very knowledgeable. Any time I have a question, I ask it on this board. I don't mind having to wait a little bit if it means the responses I get will be valuable and informed.

Good though about narration demo length. Your demo highlights your vocal quality nicely, btw...
