Exclamation Over 70 + Voices, But, what the hell do I do with them?

Hello everyone. I wanted to write and say hello. I am mostly noted for my music but I decided to make a demo reel as I have a passion for voice overs. Wanted to share, not sure where to turn as I am looking for some work in the field. Any suggestions? Please note, this is all 100% Improv I practiced nothing in this video I can do better this was just a test.

EXPLICIT CONTENT 18 + YEARS OLD PLEASE. THANK YOU

Paul, the obvious question is: what have you done so far? Maybe you're not "agent material" yet. Revistiting three year old casting calls on this forum probably ain't gonna help you, that's for sure.
If you want help, start out by doing an introductory post, tell us about yourself, you're aim in this, your experience. Read up on the old threads, it's an old forum with lots of info.

I'm gonna jump back onto the forums here to toss out my 2-cents' worth.

I listened to about 30 seconds of your 'demo' before having to hit stop, Paul. Not saying that to be mean, but it just doesn't work. I did a Google search for you to TRY to hear if you have anything else out there, and kept coming up with that same, improvised 7-minute (!!!!!!!!!!) 'demo'.

    Okay, where to start?
#1) Here's what doesn't work with your 'demo'. It's not really a demo; it's way-too-long characters done not very well. The opening slate is very unprofessional. Go to voicebank.net and listen to the demos of the pros out there. Almost NONE are slated and they certainly don't waste the listener's time talking about it being improvised.
#2) The improvisation is another thing wrong with it. A demo needs fully-fleshed out, fully produced bytes on it, showing a range of styles and abilities. It also should be no more than 1:00 long (unless it's an audiobook demo), with about 5-7 different short snippets of various produced pieces. Because yours is neither planned or produced, it immediately loses interest. None of the characters are special or particularly interesting. Also, character voices are among the smallest segment of the v/o market. What I really wanted to know is, what does this guy sound like when he's really narrating or just doing v/o? I never heard that.
#3) The audio quality is substandard. I heard some overmodulation going on and that pretty quickly turned me off.

Before you get upset with me, and perhaps you won't, let me mention that I have 4 agents that I'm with, so to some degree I know what it takes to get representation.

    Now along that line:
    - Most agencies aren't accepting any new talent now anyway. The economy AND the online auditioning sites (Like voices.com) have taken away much of their business and they're hurting. They don't have nearly as many leads now to send out to the talent they're already carrying onboard.
    - You have to show an agency what you've already succeeded at to make it worth their while to even THINK about MAYBE adding you to their roster. You need to be able to go to them and say something along the lines of: "I've been a fulltime professional voice talent for 5 years and have done ongoing work for Comcast, Delta airlines and Publix supermarkets. I also have voiced over 200 regional spots." Something like that. And you need to accompany it with a REAL, professionally produced demo. Not one you've done yourself.

You sound like you have a good voice 'age'; younger, which is currently highly in vogue.
Now, what can you do with it besides silly characters?

This shows some raw talent for sure, but are you ready for representation? I don't think so. It's kind of like if I bought SonicFire and started looking for work as a musician. If you're serious, take some improvisation and acting classes and study the v.o. profession a bit.

Hey there . . . a few good sites to visit for non-paying gigs:
    www.voiceactingclub.com
    www.voiceactingalliance.com

Great places to get some experience. There are also guides there on making a proper DIY character demo reel (eg. 7:30 is wayyyyy too long).

Default I have a test for you

I want you to record a 3 minute video of you doing nothing more than turning on a mic with no practice, no pre thought out ideas, no nothing, hit record and make it all up every voice, thats all, try it, see if you can. If you can, I will believe you a talent, until then, you have no magic. "I am not saying I am good, so, if you know so much then do it" you wont, why? because you cant.
