Default How's THIS for a total newbie???

Okay, so today I had two different friends come by my house. Both were interested in what it takes to get into v/o. One was the 15 year-old daughter of a friend of mine and she had a ton of potential. The other was a middle-age lady from my church and wait til you hear the attached.

Now bear in mind this woman has NEVER done anything like this at all before. I'm not even really sure what prompted her to contact me. I handed her this script, gave her a minute to look at it, and we did 2 takes. I coached her on the second take to 'warm it up' some and make it personal. I also didn't shut off the a/c so there's a bit of background noise.

As you listen to this, realize this is the second take - ever - of a raw newbie. I think she can do quite well.

    Nice. Natural, straight-forward delivery.

Maybe she doesn't listen to radio or TV! (hasn't been tainted yet ;-)

Does she act or read to kids? Maybe teach?

Not bad at all. Almost as good as some of the "like" regional spot I hear here in LA.

As a general point of note- she reads and sounds like a well educated person- also as Joe noted, someone whom is not easily influenced by the Tube or Radio.

From this I would say yes she has a chance. Now I'd like to hear her on something a little more challenging.

like Whoa! It's exciting to hear someone totally new who has got it...I hear enough so-called professionals on the P2Ps and elsewhere who have not a clue!!!! Very nice.

Very honest and warm. I'd trust her.
