Hello there, folks!
My name's Mike, and 3 months ago I left my salaried job at an advertising agency to go freelance doing post production, but mostly to make myself more freely available to get back to pursuing my long deferred ambitions of a career in voice over and acting. Punching a clock, and spending the bulk of my waking hours in miserable service for someone else's dreams that didn't align with my own finally got the best of me and I snapped and did something crazy.
I dared to defy convention of what was "safe", and gave my notice.
So here I am.
People I'd like to lovingly thank and blame for my irrationality are Kara Edwards for making me think I just might be able to pull it off, and the most blame is directed at Cam Clarke and Pat Fraley for planting the seeds of desire in an incredibly impressionable young mind.
Long before I knew who they were by name, I knew them as my favorite voices growing up with TMNT, and many other cartoons I watched as a younger young'in. And I knew that one day I'd want to be in their ranks as someone who gets to voice characters for people to enjoy and maybe (if ever so fortunate) one day be nostalgic about.
I'm all in for the rough and tumbly road ahead of training, failing, succeeding, and persevering.
100% of my experiences with folks in the VO community thus far have been overwhelmingly positive. You're a kind and generous lot.
Though a green rookie, I'm down to help and contribute any way I can.
I'm a technological super freak with a strong background in troubleshooting "why the hell isn't this working?" issues, as well as web design and development, social media strategery, video editing, motion graphics, and my advertising background has enhanced my marketing insight.
Those are my cards all laid out.
Oh... and in case you didn't notice, I can be long winded at times.
Thanks for having me.
- mike!
