Default Casting characters for animated series pilot

Over the weekend I was contacted by a guy in India who knows me from the animation community. He's working with some friends to develop an animated series that they want to pitch at MIPCOM this October for European distribution. He came to me asking for help with the voices for the pilot, and I offered to spread the word and help coordinate the casting process.

The series is about the life of animals in a traveling circus. There are six characters in the pilot: two lions, a tiger, a monkey, a trainer, and a psychoanalyst. All but the monkey are written as males; the monkey only screeches, so I suppose that could be voiced by either a male or female.

Each episode will be 4.5 minutes long, but the pilot will only be two minutes. While my friend is aware of the costs involved in getting the actual series voices done, he and his colleagues are paying for the pilot production out of their own pockets, and don't have a lot to work with. That said, he is willing to pay for the talent who record the pilot voices, but unfortunately I haven't received any actual dollar figures re: their budget, so I have no idea what they have in mind.

Auditions are due to me no later than Friday, July 16th. If you're interested, send me a PM with your e-mail address and we'll go from there. Thanks!

If it's not too late, I would be interested in doing one of the voices.

MD: I have a handful of stragglers who have promised me something later today. Check your email for the audition materials. If you can get something to me in the next few hours, I'll squeeze you in.

Thomas: Just responded to your PM. Thanks!

Thanks to those who have replied and auditioned so far! I've got a great collection of auditions for the producers to review. If anyone is still interested and hasn't yet contacted me, I'm setting the last-chance cutoff at noon Pacific time. That means that you have to submit your audition to me via email by that time, which means you have to contact me before then to get the materials.

    Thanks!

Darn I missed it. I thought I could do a good psychoanalyst voice. Kind of old and quirky. Hopefully next time.

Don't work of peanuts. A desperate person never succeeds, because he will accept the scrapes others have thrown out.
And when something is in the trash, there's usually a good reason for it.

IF you're not ready to play with the big kids, it would be best to sit it out and the develop skills that will put you squarely
at the top . A bad reputation is hard to kill in this biz.

JV, this project was cast and done by the end of July. However, there's a possibility that more talent will be needed to voice some additional roles. I'll post a new thread in this forum if that comes to pass.
