Well, I downloaded a trial version of Adobe Soundbooth and I must say, I am loving it so far. I did an ADR session with it this weekend and it was sweet. I may just keep it.

Adobe's Soundbooth looks like a goodie. You can get a trial.
I'm relatively new and doing mostly auditions, a few jobs and no major production or music recording, so I use Audacity. It's so darn intuitive and the price is certainly right. For the most part, I record dry voice only.
No sense using a 12-gauge to kill a flea.
If and when this venture proves profitable, I may upgrade just because I can and I need more toys.

I am with Colin. I use cool edit 2.1 and will eventually upgrade to adobe audtion but I have to tell you, it does everything I need it to do and I have been using it for five years so I really know my way around it. I bought an additional copy of it on ebay with registration # for 19.99. Now if that price don't sound right, I dont know what does! Also, for those of you coming from a 16 bit Scott Studios run radio station, I have the codecs to convert those files. If anyone needs help with that let me know!
