    Default Clare H-T

I am completely new and finding the website terminology hard to understand at times...in fact I think I think I've just 'posted a thread' to someone by mistake.

I'm a singing teacher and am very interested in learning about voice overs as i think I'd love to do it.

Any help on how to proceed would be so welcome.

    Hello Clare H-T - Welcome!

Singing is a great start. There are many ways to get into VO work.

If you could tell us a bit more about yourself, and ask some specific questions, I'm sure you'll find this a friendly bunch.

So, do you do theatre? Improv? Have you read books on VO or joined any other sites?

If you browse around the forum, you may find that some of your questions have been answered. Feel free to send me a "Private Message" (or PM) if you'd like...

    Inquiring minds want to know!

    Nice to meet you,

If you need any help with foreign terminology, just make a list of the terms and post them here. We'll gladly help you get things straightened out.

As a singing coach, you will already have some great vocal techniques, I'm sure.

Seeing as you're a singing educator... can I turn the tables and ask you a question? I'd like to learn how to increase my vocal range (need more depth, I think)! How does one go about this? (Haha, of course, you should not feel obligated to answer my question before I've answered a few of yours!)

    Welcome!

    Bret

Thanks very much for your replies...this is my first experience of a forum so am not used to its procedures.
I'm not involvrd in theatre but have voice-coached for actors doing voice-overs for TV. I haven't read any books specifically on voice-over technique. Plenty on other aspects of vocal use. Improvisation - only in singing.

To increase your range you need personal exercises i.e. tailored to your particular voice. They cannot fail to work - if you practice..!

    Welcome to Voice-Overs.com!

Oh, and it's okay, Clare, I'm new here, too. Thankfully though, this is easy enough to work with! I'm still dumbfounded when Julie uses some words around me, but reading up on voice-overs through books, or on the internet has helped me a LOT! Hope you do well, and good luck with everything. If you need any help on the boards, let me know.
