    Default GURU.com

I'm not sure if this has been brought up-- sorry for the redundant redundancy if so.

Guru.com is a networking site for freelance professionals in all kinds of fields. I'm using it for voice, writing, and media post-production. Very hit-and-miss, as all these sites tend to be. A free trial (no credit card required) lets you make limited number of bids on projects that come thru matching your skills.

While plenty are notsowonderful, this site can be unpredictable fruitful (remind you of any other services?). One of our biggest clients in awhile came from contact there.

    Anyhoo,

    Chadd

Chadd, if you look up "redundant" in the dictionary, it says "see redundant".

I have actually gotten one job off of Guru, without even trying. I use the free membership, and some guy found me and asked if I would do his project. All went well. I will say this, There is a limit on your bids with the free listing. It is 10 if memory serves. It also will not allow you to see certain aspects of jobs, or submit custom demos. You can only refer a potential client to your profile. Still not a bad way to make some money. There do seems to be a huge number of lowball jobs, and a huge number of idiots that will do a 100,000 word audio book for $50.00

I've also got a free profile there, but no gigs from them yet.

The free one allows for 10 bids per month - I have yet to hit the limit ;-)

Landed one lucrative gig there -- through a private lead of all things. No audition -- just from my demo. Great fun, too.

I like to think of it as serendipidity-do-dah!

I've found that even with a free account, I can at least put a clickable link to my web site on the proposal.

I got a mid-level paying job there once. I think it was $150 for two or three pages. Lately the jobs seem to be of lesser quality.
