Default getting started in voice over

I have been told by many people all the time that i have a great. voice and that i need to get into voiceover work. I have been looking all over the internet and trying to figure out out how to do this. There are so many different classes, on line and live or over the phone. Are classes really needed? I just dont want to fall into a scam to get my money. What is the best way to get into vo work?

    Hello travism - Welcome!

Please stop by the "Welcome/Introductions" area and post a brief intro about yourself, your experience and goals. This will help us to know a bit more about you and guage our answers appropriately.

The first thing that comes to mind is: Have you done any Acting? How about classes or Improv? Even singing can be a plus in this business... and it is a business. Lots of hard work on the road ahead. A "great voice" can be a good starting point, but you'll need much more than that to make it in VO.

Check out the review section for some reviews of books. Many of them cover the basics of VO, so that would be a good place to begin.

Also, this forum is a wonderful resource. Use the search function and you'll be able to find a wealth of past answers. Plus there are plenty of friendly people too ;-)

Hope this points you toward a couple possible answers.

Looking forward to hearing more from you - take care,
    Joe J Thomas
