Well . . . Is English Alex's second language? Man . . . And hasn't it been mentioned that just because it shows that an audition has been opened that it doesn't necessarily mean that it has been listened to? It is waaay too easy to manipulate numbers in a statistical analysis to come out with the outcome you desire. And since they're reluctant to share any solid information [patent issues doncha know], I doubt we'll ever know how they come up with their numbers.

And here's the other thing about this Frank guy when he says: "The old Voice123 was interesting, I would get a nibble for my services once in a while and the clients were all trying to get a deal on how little they could pay for a great voice over artist (such as myself) to create the perfect production." First of all, that's a pretty wide general assumption. Secondly, what in the new system prevents a client from trying to "get a deal on how little they could pay for a great voice over [sic] artist"? And don't most of us spell voiceover as one word? I could go on and on but I'd rather watch the Cubs lose to the Giants.

Arlene: Yes, I believe it is. Since I only speak one language, I can't fault him for his usage of his non-native tongue.

However, he does also run "Language123", a translation company, so you'd think he could have someone double-check before putting out a posting for the world to see.

Good points on the statistics follies.

Pointing out that the number of auditions per project is down is completely pointless since they are artificially limiting the number. It's like saying there's less pick-pocketing since the government started cutting off hands... of course there is! Less hands, less pick-pockets! Less auditions allowed, and you get less auditions! Wow! What surprising logic!

Maybe it wasn't a typo. The statistics have to speak by themselves, because there's no real data to back up these bogus claims.

And Lee: even with a 60 minute window, that only holds the one you're looking at. What about the others that appear and vanish while you're recording? I'm sorry, but the 60 minute thing sounds good, but it's like putting a tourniquet on a neck wound, or a band-aid on an ebola victim.

The problem is the same as it ever was:
SmartCast and the Rating System.

Ok, I've reached my venting limit.

Off to learn pick-pocketing,
Joe

Pickpocket analogy very funny. Perhaps we could find ourselves a Fagan and follow his lead. It'll probably be more productive than the V123 system.
