Exclamation ImAStar.biz - More info?

Hello all,

The following was posted on another e-mail group:

CALLING ALL TALENT
The I'm A Star Network <I’m A Star! [BETA]> is conducting a
worldwide,
online casting search for the next Big Star.
Models, Musicians, Actors, Comedians, Child Stars, Dancers and more!!!
Think you have what it takes?
Join the Community during it's Beta Phase for FREE!
This offer won't last long, what are you waiting for?
Start your dream career today!
Forgive me for being a bit cautious, but I'd like to know a bit
more about the "I'm A Star Network". Anyone wish to chime in with more info?

The web site has no information on the people running it, except to
say how well connected they are.

Claims are made about industry professionals visiting the site
regularly, but it's so new it doesn't even get many hits on Google.

The site was setup by someone in Pennsylvania (do a whois to find out).

I also noted that the "Terms And Conditions" language
(Terms & Conditions » I’m A Star! [BETA]) is a
cut-and-paste from MySpace
(Terms & Conditions - MySpace.com)... with the
web site name substituted. Even the address and fax number belongs to
MySpace!

So, you can see why I'm skeptical about this.
I'm open to hearing more, but right now I for one will not be posting
my information there.

Measure Twice, Cut Once.

Default imastar.biz

Hey Joe,

I had stumbled on the imastar website about a month ago. Then I just found your posting. I checke the Terms & Conditions, and hate to say it, but I think you got the wrong info. It has nothing about Myspace or duplicated anything from the Myspace Terms & Conditions. When I found the imastar website, I also was hesitant. I emailed the company and to find out what their services are about. I was told the team behind the imastar have collectively been involved in the Entertainment Industry for over 75 years. The imastar website creates backdoor account for entertainment industry people to view the profiles. The members on the imastar can't see the industry people's profiles. I asked why, and I was told that this was an agreement they made with entertainment industry people so that they don't get harrassed by emails and phone calls with "did you see my video or listen to my songs?". I signed my daughter up. Cross your fingers for me Joe!

Hello khartman,

Please forgive my being such a skeptic, but there is still plenty of cause for it in this case.

ImAStar.biz has made some changes and additions to the "Terms & Conditions" page since my initial visit. However, it still contains a large portion of the verbage from MySpace... and I still don't have any information on who's running the site or where they got their supposed 75 years of experience from.

If you would be so kind, pleas post a bit more information about yourself. I found very little information about you on the web related to your e-mail address. Even though this in and of itself is not indicative of anything, it is very suspicious in these circumstances.

It doesn't help us much to have one unverified source vouching for another unverified source ;-)

If you can point us to some real information about this site, who is running it, and their "experience", that would also be a great help. Maybe you could post a copy of the e-mails you were sent by ImAStar for us?

My money's still in my pocket on this one,

Looks like they're trying to do so much. I wonder if they'll be able to pull this off. I see model and talent searches all the time that are really good at charging $$ while filling folks heads with dreams of "stardom". I could be wrong, but we shall see.

Yeah, it's unfortunate.

I've seen way too many sites like this.

Still waiting for "khartman" to respond...

Update:

They have a MySpace page too:
MySpace.com - I Am A Star - 44 - Male - SPRING HOUSE, US - www.myspace.com/imastarnetwork

So, if you'd like more information... you won't find it there either!

They have decades of experience! And have worked with some big names! Or not. It's impossible to tell when you don't know who you're dealing with.

It's April 1st, but I'm no fool,

Default "Star" sites

I go with Joe on this.
I made the mistake of listing myself on Talenthunter.com.
They put me on one of those automatic monthly renewal things but were not clear about it.
It took 2 months to finally get them to stop charging my credit card and after a year i STILL can't get the sheisters to remove me from their site.
Turns out the sight is run my some nare do well in south america.
Bogus BS.

Be careful.

Joe, you so rock! I'm quite impressed that you looked at the terms and were able to discern that they were from My Space. Thanks for being on the ball and sharing this information with all of us.

My pleasure, Karen. I've seen way too many rich and famous sites, classes, and offers - gotta be careful.

I take my "Guardian of Cyberspace" title seriously!

Default talenthunter

Hi, I googled talenthunters review and your thread popped up, which I read. So is it best to stay clear of them? I just got another email from a supposed "scout" who wanted me for a commercial in the states and said I should respond quickly which kind of employed bully tactics or it could be that they are pressed for time. What do you recommend?
