In my research of voice over marketplaces I have found Voices.com to be by far the most informative, They have taken alot of time and effort to get the information out as consistantly as possible, (althogh I like to have a greater deal of details, the "read over" stuff is insperational to my research). Voices.com has lead me to the information I am seeking, most of my information has come from voices.com. I look forword to work from that site.

Which brings me to a question:
Has anyone bought any of the books offerd by Voices.com?
I'm seriously thinking about picking up most of those books to help me with my business and I'm curious about content and functionality. Will they help to legitamize my efforts in this industry?

I had taken v123 up on their one month premium subscriber offer. My "subscription" runs out tomorrow. I will not be renewing. Smartcast did not work for me.

I'm giving my money to voices.com and seeing how it works. Been very happy, thus far. No paying gigs YET!, but at least I'm not being sent something asking for a Brazilian accent from Smart Cast because I list "Southern Accent"! LOL!

Good luck Whitley,

I too am on at voice123, my freebee runs out next week,
I'll prbably subscribe, but not till I give voices.com a shot thats in about a week or so, I realy am looking forword to it.
I've not had near the smartcast problems that soo many others are talking about. My lowballs are 3 in 10 and I've not been invited to anything that I've not listed.

Realy Whitley good luck.

Things are good for me here lately, but it's like anywhere. You have to be diligent, and audition promptly -- and only for those leads which are really suited to you.

I hope Voices will continue to tweak and make improvements as they grow. I have always found them to be open to suggestions and very supportive of talent. Customer service is excellent.

Diane/All,

What is "promptly" by voices.com standards? Same day? Same hour? Looking into this and don't want to waste my time & money if I can't get to any of these great auditions fast enough to matter.

Thanks!

For me, if I can't get to an audition within a few hours of its being posted, I usually will pass on it. I feel after that window of time, unless it is for something very specialized, or a specific studio gig, many auditions will have been submitted before you. The other exception might be if you feel it is really something in your wheelhouse that you can't pass up the chance to be heard, however slim that might be. I do delete many more leads than I answer. I probably do one Voices audition a day, average.

All of the gigs (4) I've gotten at Voices, I auditioned for the same day it posted. All but one notified and paid me within a day or two. I've been with them for a year now, and haven't made a ton of money, my investment certainly, and more -- but fun gigs, and (hopefully) a repeat client or two. (Though promises to use you again don't always translate into jobs, as we all know.)

Alright, I'm on for a month. Whoo-hoo! Just sent in 3 auditions. Eh, if anything it's practice, right?

Thanks again!

Chadd, I think you have the right idea. I signed up and went month by month. I wanted to give it a try before I went with the full year price. I gave it two months and 135 auditions. Nothing, nada, zilch. There are many people that have great luck with them. I shouldn't say luck, because it is talent. There is an element of luck though to even getting heard, no matter how talented or perfect for a specific lead. Anyway, it works for many, it didn't for me.

I guess after some of the deals we've seen it could be worse, eh?
