Default Susan Blu and Molly Ann Mullin WORD of MOUTH-ALL REVIEWS FOR THIS GO HERE

Got a copy of Word of Mouth ( A Guide to Commercial Voice-Over Excellence) 2d Edition (2d Printing-1996) by Susan Blu and Molly Ann Mullin...used from e-Bay and in GREAT condition. One of the best investments in my VO career to date!!! I am sure there are many (here) who have already devoured the contents of this book--if you have not, get a copy!

What a fabulous treasure of VO advice! 182 pages of GREAT tangible and usable information for any VO talent and an easy read. Susan and Molly cover The Basic Process which is invaluable to anyone interested in acting and voice over. You will also find very helpful info on Animation, putting together your DEMO, Agents, Marketing and Promoting yourself, The Audition and how to refine your craft.

The back of the book has contacts regarding Workshops/Private Instruction; DEMO Production; Graphics; VO Agency List and a Glossary that defines the language of VO. You will also find very useful sample scripts in this wonderful VO instructional paperback.

This edition may be eleven years old but I got a ton of universal knowledge from Word of Mouth! I'm on my second helping

Yeah, I've taken classes with Cynthia Songe (Sue Blu's business partner).

Well worth every penny.
Liked it so much, I had them produce my demos.

Stellar value. They work very hard to make sure the demos are top-notch, and you're satisfied.

I purchased the latest edition of this book. Started reading and will post a full review when I've finished. Also comes with a CD. Cynthia Songe is also an author on this.

BTW, the classes fill up really fast. If you go to the www.blupka.com site you can get on the mail list for notices.

My 2 cents,

Joe,

I have the first addition of the book/tape and they are great resources. The tape (now in mp3 format for my iPod) is great to listen to and hear the early voices of Tom Pinto, Beau Weaver, Susan, Molly and the rest of the crazy bunch on the recordings. The out takes or really funny.

I'll have to check out the new version just to see what they have changed and/or added.

I got my first copy of this back in the '80's and have read it a number of times. Great stuff! The warm ups are my daily mantra.

I've had the book for years.(Since the early 90s) I don't remember it coming with audio. I loved the picture of Beau Weaver... since I worked with him yyyeeeeaaars ago (1981) and he helped me to assemble one of my very first VO demos in a radio station production room! We edited with razor blade on 1/4" reel.... NOt that I'm old enough to remember that kind of thing...

Julie,

There were two order numbers for the early version of the book; one with tape and one without. I initially ordered it without the tape and then ordered the one with tape. I have since converted it to .mp3 so I can load it in my ipod. I can bring you a CD version to the workshop next month for you to listen to.

Jon,
My original casette that came with this book (way back when) was long ago eaten by one of my car's tape decks. YIKES!!!!. If there's any way I could have you email me the mp3 of this I'd be so grateful, or if you happen to post here somewhere, that'd be the ultimate BEST! Thanks

Jon,

Please don't post the mp3's here.
(tho, you may email at your own discretion )

Don't want to violate any copyrights!

I agree with everything that's been written about this fantastic little book.
I think I have every voice book available and this remains my favorite.
It's also inexpensive enough to keep a couple of copies as gifts for those people who always want to know "how can I get into voiceovers?"
