Product Review: "Feeding Your Focus- How Creative People Can Move Forward Faster And Achieve Sustained Success", by Kristine Oller
Throughout the four sections of this book, we are led step-by-step how to find your focus, feed it and build sustained success. Part 1. Focus & Strategy Set goals and focus what you’re passionate about. Your goals are the roads that’ll get you to your destination, and your actions are the fuel that propels you to that destination, which end up feeding your focus. Part 2. Home Office Efficiency The happier you are in your home office environment (because you can locate everything), the more productive, efficient and effective your business will be. Part 3. Financial Organization Bet on yourself, know your numbers, be accountable, get organized, and strengthen your financial footing, all of which enable you to feed your focus. Part 4. Networking How & Why Those with the most robust network will be enabled to move forward the fastest by networking effectively. I’d recommend this book for anyone who could use some inspiration in organizing every aspect of their career and building a home-based business. Kristine Oller’s references to her own client experiences as an actor in Los Angeles helped me relate to her. Her narration is personable and a bit sassy, which resonated well with me. I want to thank you for allowing me to review Kristine Oller’s book Feeding Your Focus. I am just starting my career in the voiceover world and already feel I have some basic tools to begin. Feeding Your Focus helps those who may be struggling to get started by explaining the foundations for several areas that are critical to success.
I found myself taking dubious notes and making sure I listened to the CD’s as well as reading along with the accompanying PDF document. This action helped to reinforce the actions described in the book. I enjoyed listening to how the author incorporated the idea of the “Flowerpot”. This also brought a unique visual aspect as I could picture these same references building in my own mind. I feel I am better prepared to pursue my dreams after listening to all the chapters. Several times throughout the book, I was so encouraged that I stopped the CD and began to identify my goals and started to organize my office, then I remembered I do have a deadline to submit this review and so I returned to the task at hand. I liked the package of the materials, but I do have a suggestion. The first thing I like to do is load my books on CD into my iTunes application, upon loading the CD’s I had to rename the tracks as they had not yet been labeled, this caused a slight delay in being able to enjoy this wonderful information. Thanks again, Tanya Schoenwolf |

It seems obvious that a book written by a professional organizer about how to organize your professional life would be, well, organized professionally. What is not so obvious is the fact that this audio book would not only organize my mind and my life, but would warm my heart and enrich my soul as well.
Kristine Oller has written a gem. Feeding Your Focus gives you tools you can and will use to change your thinking and organize each part of your professional life. The book is presented in four parts: Career Strategy, Home Office Efficiency, Financial Organization, and Networking How & Why. Each section offers advice and steps you can take to get your career goals focused and organized. Included with the eight audio CDs is a Reference CD-ROM, which includes the entire text of Feeding Your Focus, as well as an appendix with recommended reading and websites that give further clarification and information regarding the topics Ms. Oller discusses in her book. More than just a beautifully written and well-presented book is included with this CD package. Inside is Ms Oller’s heart and soul. I found myself laughing out loud at some points, especially those that seemed as though she had written them with me personally in mind. Her voice and message convey warmth and a deep understanding of what it takes to succeed as a professional in a creative field, such as Voice Acting. Having spoken with Kristine Oller directly during my review of this book, I found her to be helpful, genuine, and really nice. Her website provides further information and encouragement and her blog is a great read for creative professionals. I loved this book, and I’ve already begun implementing many of the steps Ms Oller outlines. As this is the beginning of my VO career (congratulations to me for just finishing my professional demo with Nakamoto Productions in Sacramento, check my website after April 1st for it’s on-line debut), I know this book is what I need to propel my career forward and assist me in achieving my dreams. And in response to your question, Kristine, “Would you rather have the ability to fly or be invisible?”, your book has given me the ability to fly. Thank you. |

Hi Guys,
Of course, I'm not surprised at how great Feeding Your Focus is, because I've worked with Kristine Oller. She's a great career strategist! That's the beauty of this product. It's not just about "personal organizing." It's about FINDING your focus, and FEEDING it so that you can get where you want to go! Most voiceover courses teach you how to market yourself in voiceovers, or specific techniques in voiceover delivery, or how to audition, etc. That’s great, and it’s needed. This course is different, yet totally relevant to any voiceover talent who wants to succeed. It needs to be added to your professional reference library along with voiceover-specific materials! I can tell you that Kristine is an incredible career strategist. I am one of her regular clients. And she was recommended to me by a very well known Los Angeles voiceover talent whom I won’t name because I don’t have permission to do so. But I have never regretted one second of the time I’ve spent consulting with Kristine. I’m so excited that she put all of this information into a format that makes it available to talent who can’t afford her consulting services! In fact, I’m so excited about this product that I’ve invited Kristine Oller to share my exhibit hall booth at VOICE 2008! FYI... it was in a strategy brainstorming session in Los Angeles that Kristine and I together came up with the name The VoiceOver Insider for the montly magazine I send out! (you can sign up for it at www.voice-overs.com if you're new and don't know about it!) Kristine is truly gifted... and at $137... this product is a STEAL! 8 CDs worth of information you can truly use if you're a creative type and you own your own business. (That includes actors, VOs, artists, producers, etc.)
