Hello all newbie here. Great to be here.
Anways my queston.I'm new to the voice over world and I sent in some demo reels and I got this email back from one of them. I'm 99% sure it's a scam but, I would like to know what others think. I mean the man doesn't even want to meet me first. I would love to hear your thoughts on this.HTML Code:
Mr. Knox, I received your package today and reviewed the contents and I think I may be able get you some work within the right production circles in town. We will need to create a more professional “package” which will include your work on CD with artwork along with your resume of work. I will not endorse talent without a glossy, professional package plus it wouldn’t hurt for you to have one for your business uses. Here is an itemized list of things we will need to proceed: · VO sampling in CD format · $150.00 for design and artwork · $200.00 for mastering and digitizing of your CD You can make your check or money order payable to: Outlaw Entertainment LLC 1160 Gallatin Pike S. Madison, TN 37115 If and once we get your package ready we will discuss our contract terms for representation. Thanks, Mike Schelling Outlaw |

I'm thinking of a word....it rhymes with Ham!
The good news is you haven't sent any money and you posted here so now more people are aware of this bozo.

They're a legit company
Outlaw World But not one I'd consider using to produce a demo for me, ESPECIALLY if I'm new to the biz. For one thing, it would appear they're more oriented towards entertainment venues like music, boxing, live shows, etc, from what I can briefly see. Note on the site there's ZERO info 'about us'. If you want a demo done, and done right, wait til you've had some professional voice coaching and training and your coach tells you you're ready. Your coach will then offer some ideas of how and where to get your demo done, or you can find some talented production folks here and on other voiceover sites to produce your demo for you.

When you get ready to do your demo, message Colin Campbell on here. He is one of the best production specialist I know.

That note they sent you ends with this sentence:
------------------------------------------- "If and once we get your package ready we will discuss our contract terms for representation." ------------------------------------------- That just doesn't make any sense. "If and once?" "...once we get your package ready we will discuss our contract....?" I think they meant "If and when," and I doubt they will do the work on your package before they have a contract. Doesn't sound like an outfit I'd want representing me.
