I'm with you there Scott... assuming you keep your e-mail open pretty much all day (I do), I solved this by keeping my templated response in an e-mail draft so it's always there and I don't have to open any other program to access it.

And I, too, have had much more success with V123 compared to Voices.com... they seem to post better jobs more often and with Smartcast I feel I have a better shot at those jobs.

Thanks to all for your help. I am redoing my demo and after that will make my decision as to which one to start with. I know the more chances you have to audition, the better the chance of success. I might just pick my first one with Lee's suggestion of a coin toss, and then go from there.

Joe, I read thru the whole posting on this issue and came away with no decisive answer! I think relative newbies probably have different needs from a P2P site than you seasoned pros.

I do have a business plan, as I have had for 8 years on my other business, and it helps to keep you focused on the tasks at hand, even though it is ever evolving.

As far as marketing, I've done a ton of that with my day job, Real Estate, and that comes easy.

Thanks again and hope to join you all in the mix soon!

I got my start with radio daddy, it's not a p2p, but I have landed business there in the past as well as now.

Isn't that one of those free voice-trade places where radio prod directors go to get free reads for their clients? I'm sorry but sites like that are the bane of our existence.

The site has changed. there is an actual forum for commercials where people are expected to "donate" for a read.

It's a great site if you want to get yourself warmed up for the day. You can make a lot of friends there.

" I'm sorry but sites like that are the bane of our existence."

Please define "our".

That site is a great tool for people who don't have a lot of money, or for people who run internet stations, or hey! How about college radio stations?

I have made over 900 in a month because of that one website, WITHOUT HAVING TO PAY A SINGLE DIME.

It's a good way to get exposure for FREE.

I'll take anything free.

And yeah, the website was created with FREE in mind!

So please, once again, define "our". Do you mean every voice actor/voice talent? If that's so then you are sadly mistaken.

If the site has evolved into a place where voice actors actually get paid for their efforts then that's great. But I've seen several variations on this concept where a little co-op crops up and people trade v-o for their radio stations. The production directors think this is a good thing for them because it provides variety in their stop-sets, but in reality it devalues what voice talent do, and to me that is indeed bad for everyone who's trying to make a living as a professional voice actor.
