For those of you interested in doing audio books, LibriVox is a great way to practice. That's not to say that if you can get paid, you shouldn't - but if you're volunteering your time, Librivox is a fun place to go (among others, of course). And people DO hear you there. I've been invited to a couple of other projects that DID pay due to being heard over there.
