Alex and Chadd... thanks! Figures that's the one that gets a "not likely" rating from the client on V123... of course I've had a number of "likely hiring" spots over the past few weeks and never heard from any of them... just goes to show why the V123 ratings are largely ignorable. Oh, and while I've never been to Dollywood I do agree with your assessment of the Smokey Mtn region... went there a couple of times as a kid and still remember how cool it was.

One of the things I like most about this thread is when multiple people post their interpretations of the same script, often with very different (but equally great) results... it's cool hearing how both of your reads, Chadd and Jodi, can evoke different emotions in the listener and gives the producer a lot of options... good stuff!

Rick,
Don't feel uneasy about it. It wasn't bad. You just need to pull the announcer part back. You have a nice voice, so now forget about it and just be yourself in the read and try to imagine what they are trying to present in the copy. This helps me when I can actually pull it off.

Good luck.

Admin guys: Is this post in the right place?

Chris -- Awesome as always. Great energy For me the second read was my fav. Very cool.

Chadd -- Nice read. The pacing might be a bit too fast was the subject, but I liked it.

Jodi -- Love it. Very good pacing and I dig the feel of it. It felt like you were really talking to me.

Okay, since Lee asked for it, here is the winning aud I did for the El Paso Electric spot. The spec was:
"Looking for Male VO 40 + Slight Gravel, but smooth. No noticeable accent, could be a resident of New Mexico in Arts Community. Sam Elliot without an accent."

This is what I gave them. Its sort of long since I gave them 3 full reads of the :60 sec spot.

I dig, Jon, I dig. Thanks for the kind words on mine. One note, your "New Mexico" leans a bit toward "New Mexeeco". Dunno if that's on purpose or not... I don't recall ever being there.

2 here, I don't think I've already posted the Subway thing... if so, forgive me?

The POM one for a quick PBS sponsorship (hence the lack of "hype") actually got down between me & another guy. I lost. (always feels like I tend to say "company" weird...)

Thanks, Jon. I really appreciate that since I'm working on being more conversational all the time. :) I liked your 60 second spots. Like Chadd, I noticed the "mexeeco". I liked the first one best - mostly because it sounded the most conversational to me - though others' mileage may vary.

Chad, as always, you rock. You have that conversational tone down pat. The Subway commercial was great. As for POM, they certainly didn't choose the other guy because you didn't nail the spot ... The other guy probably just reminded them more of their Uncle Bob or something ...

Chadd -- Nice reads again. Maybe the client was looking for a bit more friendly read on the POM spot? They still missed out by not selecting you. Their lost.

Yeah the Mexeeco thing did pop up. It must be a Caleefornia-ism or a bad habit, but they corrected me, or at least tried, by having me say Mexaco, or something like that. There were some other words that they say different than I do and that is where the direction comes in. They seemed to be happy in the end. Thanks for the note.

Got the POM thing thru an agent also.

Thanks for the positive words... especially Jodi for the Uncle Bob comment!

Jon, I think "six" is closer to the sound you want. Like "Six illiterate hillbillies filled the bin with fisted catfish".
