Mike
I love your voice. If I may for a moment make a few comments that might improve your read. Technically: I'm guessing you're using a RE-20 due to the buzz rubbing out the richness of your voice. I would suggest a handcrafted Pearlman Microphone for you sir. Pearlman Microphones - TM - 1 I also sense you're reading with headphones -- take 'em off. I wouldn't worry about tone as much as I would delivery, using headphones has a tendency to distract one from their performance. For your read: I would think about who the audience is and who you are addressing, preferably one person in their late teens early twenties, considering going to college. Your job now is to motivate that kid to go to Jacksonevill. Not a "Raw Raw" Knute Rockney, just upbeat, with a little energy behind it, and maybe just a touch faster- Think Keith Jackson. Also, the story felt like it was cut off at the end, try giving it a more definitive ending. These are just my thoughts on the take, and are only meant to aid and assist for the betterment of the craft. Be well, ~MIke |

There was a lead on Voices.com Thursday afternoon that called for a 1920s-1930s style newscaster (realistic, not comedy/cartoon). As is so often the case, the requirements were specific although not necessarily the kind of thing you'd have on a demo, but they provided no sample script. So I cooked up this one.
