Default Okeydoke, New Commercial Demo Time

I was listening to my then-current commercial demo a few weeks back and cringed a few times... that's when I knew it was time for a new one. For a while I had a seperate "conversational/real" demo and I incorporated a few elements of it into this new effort.

Thanky in advance for listening and any feedback you might have!

Hey Chris,

My quick take: I like it.

For "real", some spots are dead on.
Could turn down the announcer on a few other.

But I didn't hear any that really set off my "announcer guy" radar!

Definitely gettin' close to the money mark!,

Not that I'm an expert on these things by any stretch of the imagination, but I think it sounds pretty awesome. Great deliveries, mix of styles, pacing, energy. Terrific production to boot! I think you oughta be proud of this.

Humbly,
Alex

Chris - You rock man! This is very cool. You impressed me in Julie's workshop and you certainly did not let me down here.

For me, one thing that would really set off the spot where the guy is looking for the dog would be to add a female voice in there. I think a bit of dialog would be a nice touch.

Nice one dude.

Ditto, ditto, ditto, with the exception of the State Farm spot. I didn't believe it for a second. Everything else is pretty much spot-on, but that one jumped out at me as being very forced. It's so short anyway I'd deep-six it. You have other low-key bits in there that work great anyway.

Besides that, I wish my demo was half this good. This is good stuff!

NICE WORK!

I'm not buying the State Farm either. Instead of sounding like you lost everything in a hurricane, it sounded like you
weren't sure where to send in your premium check.

I would start with the #2 spot, and put the first spot after the Durracell. You should always start with your signature voice and end with
your signature voice. A nice little dialog spot with a female would be good.

Production is very nice.

Did I mention that I liked this demo?

Great JOB!!!!!!!

Agreed. Great stuff. I vote for ditching the State Farm spot too. Everything else is killer. You should definitely peak some interest with it.

Thanks everyone! I was a little on-the-fence regarding the State Farm spot too... thanks for pushing me off!

It's funny Mike... for the longest time I thought my excited semi-hard-sell like in the Friday's spot WAS my signature voice! Must be the radio in me. But considering that's not getting me nearly as much work as the read in the 2nd cut it definitely makes sense to re-order things a bit.

Hafta check the archives and see if I have anything laying around with a female dialogue in it... the spot Jon mentioned actually originated as a M/F dialogue but I didn't have a copy of the final spot so I reworked it and just used part of the male v-o.

Thanks again for checking it out!
