Does anyone have any ideas as to why suddenly, my ProTools 7.1 (or 215, I'm not sure) won't load when I click the icon? I have re-installed it several times, had my whole system wiped and re-built and put in a new power supply.
I also tried to load it on my laptop computer, that I use as an emergency back-up, and it no longer would load on it either. I also removed and re-installed on the laptop to no avail. Also, I disabled my virus protection when re-installing and trying to load. I have had to use Audacity to record, and that is challenging because there is horrid latency in the headphones. I don't listen loudly to headphones but I do need to know if there is some noise way in the background (like a car driving by) to wait on, to go away before continuing - for example. Also, in Audacity, I haven't figured out how to re-record over the previous file. It automatically creates another file. In Protools, I could just record a segment right in the original file, but with Audacity, I havke to do another file and paste it in. All of this has really sapped my time as you can imagine. Please advise, and thanks. Phyllis |

Hi Phyllis,
I do not use Pro Tools however I had a friend go through something similar as you. This is the link he visited that ultimately solved his problems: General Troubleshooting - Pro Tools LE on Windows (XP & Vista) - Digi User Conference. This is a Pro Tools forum, and deals specifically with the program not launching. I don't know if you have been there yet, but it solved his issue, which by the way I am not sure exactly what it was. Hope this helps. Joseph Andrade

Hi John;
Thanks for the link. Right after posting, I Googled and found that it's IE 8 - and indeed, removing it did allow ProTools to load. Now having had to re-install ProTools, I have to find how to get back my upgrade, which was done online - plus how to get my MP3 plugin to work again. If that wasn't annoying enough, my virus software blocked the MP3 bounce file - so I couldn't even find how or where I would put in my code to open the MP3 option. Yikes. Time for a new thread. Phyllis,
I cannot help you, but I have spent plenty of time on the Digi User website trying to figure out PT bugs...you have my sympathies.

Save backups of all software & run system backups regularly! I would call Digidesign, I would think they would allow you to upload what you had before!
I've got a copy of Pro Tools Version 7.3.1 updater and also 7.4 if that would help you! Shoot me a PM. Last edited by shenecke; 06-17-2009 at 04:09 PM. |
