And not to be rude, you chose to tell us about your business practices or at least some of them in your initial post. Your post didn't simply say you had a $200 budget and was looking for a "best" microphone in that price range. Nor did your questiuon indicate the type of video work, ie. v.o. that oyu may be producing, nor does itindicate your vocal type. All important aspects for mic recommendations.
My advice is basd on 20+ years of casting and hiring voice talent as well as performing v.o. and used information you freely supplied and must have felt necessary to give. I fully stand behind my answer. If it isn't what you need or expect than please ignore it and move on.
Far be it from me to expect that anyone on these forums would actually see the value in one of my answers and foolish me for dropping in here once again with the intention of helping. Limelight, your response to my response speaks volumes.
Thank You Erik for trying to turn this sow's ear into a silk purse.
Anyone wants me, you know where to find me.

In other words, you get what you pay for.

As I pointed out, a USB mic is only good to work out on and practice, they are not suitable for auditions or production work. I don't put much stock into them, for either their quality of sound or construction.

I believe that was the warning that JS was trying to convey.

These "young turks" ask for advice then turn a deaf ear when sound advice is given. It's like talking to a wall sometimes.

And your condescending and presumptuous diatribe speaks even louder. If your point was "You need to spend more" then that's what you should have said. You miniaturized rant basically insinuating I ripped my customers off (which would surprise them since they've all raved about my work) was uncalled for. Perhaps if you took some time to consider the way you say things you'd find people would listen more often.

Anyway, as stated, I made my choice. I consider the conversation over this is the last I have to say on any of this.

Condescending diatribe? Methinks the lady doth protest too much. I merely intended to give you something to think about - to perhaps offer perspective and to have you be more effective and be of greatest service to your clients. I asked questions and suggested a potential scenario and I still believe that anyone deriving an income from voiceover should not consider a sub $200 USB microphone.

The appropriate response to anyone who takes time out to answer your question regardless of what you think of the answer should be a simple thank you.
