Julie, I'll give you huge props for putting our individual e-mails in the "To" area and not all of the e-mails. That's how spammers get addresses when you don't use a list or Bcc. Also, there is an area in our control panel that reads:
Quote:
From time to time, the administrators may want to send you email notices.

If you do not want to receive these notices, disable this option. [X]Receive Email from Administrators
So, if you don't check the box, you don't get the e-mails. Also, thanks for the "ignore list" which some other boards don't offer.

Julie,

Nah, you're not spam. Like someone else said, if they don't want to read it, delete it. :)

Julie,

Everything that you or voice-overs.com sends is pretty cool in my opinion!
Keep 'em coming...

Thanks, Guys,

Bill, I think that when vBulletin sends out something to members of this forum, it actually sends each person an individual email. I like that, for the reasons you stated.

When constant contact sends out emails (that's how I do mass emailing to list, and how I send out the link to the VoiceOver Insider) I believe the do the same, and they are permission-based.

I appreciate the support from all of you, and also the ones who had reservations and sent a PM about them.

Thanks for your kind words, Bob. And JS... thank for yours as well... in fact...to all of you!

I'll keep the good info coming... and keep in back of my mind if anything could be perceived as spam!

I didn't get anything from you that even came close to spam. You sent two copies of an announcement for the contest. I think whoever complained is overreacting. Don't worry about the sour pusses. :-)

If thats spam, then keep it coming. I haven't been bothered by the very few e-mails you have sent. Especially when we can easily gain from them. Very good odds to win the prize.

Julie,

John and Bob hit it on the head-- sending members of this board notices of contests is not SPAM--

Stick to your guns we are all behind you!!

Keep up the great work!!! You are the Best!!

the emails were sent through the VB log to the registration email. it was not sent from a personal email account or a 3rd party mass email service. that being said there is no list of emails that spammers and maliciouse programs can use to market.

There you go, then. Tracks covered. I just checked the email I got about the contest and there, at the bottom, are instructions on unsubscribing.

Generally, when one signs up for an email newsletter, they should be prepared to actually RECEIVE an email newsletter, ya know?

But, with that said, you just can't please everyone all the time. Keep a draft reply handy to send back to complainers with apologies and instructions on how to unsubscribe.

According to my filter; your e-mail was spam. (Although, I didn't mind the content. :)) You might want to avoid words such as contest, win, and free in your subject line. These trigger the filters and cause your message to be sent to the wrong mailbox.
