Angry Right now I really hate...

the Cubase LE software package that was included in my PreSonus Inspire Digital interface that I just now (literally just this week I) have figured out how to get it to do about 85% of what I want it to do, only to find that the package that I have comes equipped with a demo version of the MP3 export tool.

So... after spending three weeks installing software, building the tiniest, most cramped (yet still not even close to soundproof) soundbooth on the planet, teaking the mic to get the richest pickup possible without picking up every breath that I take (not to mention the clothes dryer humming through the floorboards from time to time - see previous note on non-soundproof booth), I finally come to point where I am laying down voice tracks with a fair amount of confidence and mixing some real, honest to goodness production tracks with it, and get to a point that I feel comfortable submitting a home-grown demo ... >>>heavy breath<<< I get an export message from the Cubase software saying that my export tool has expired.

No problem, right? I just go over to Stenberg's site and sign up to get the Update patch and I'm ready to rock and roll again. Right?

Wrong! That's where I learn that Cubase LE is no longer supported with a Patch, that to do so, would require a purchase of Cubase4.

So here I sit. Wondering if PreSonus and Cubase have some sort of proprietary agreement, or if I can just go to Adobe and DL a copy of Audition or Soundbooth (right now, I'm not very happy with Steinberg at all ). After all, I can get 30 days free from either one of those suites, while I save up money (or win enough jobs) to just buy the thing and run it like an honest galactic herald.

Does anyone else use the PreSons Interface? Any suggestions?

The quicker the better. I have an audition that is due Monday.

I wish I could help! I use protools.
You could email stevenpowell@voicehaven.com He may be able to help.

Meantime, if you have audition on Monday, you might temporarily download a freebie like Audicy... or get a 30 day free trial of Adobe Audition. A lot of people use that (go for version 1.5 instead of 2.0 if you can)

Good luck!

Hi Jody. As Julie has suggested, Audacity is a great, and FREE, little program. I think I mentioned in another thread that I use Cubase LE - only for recording - then save the file as a .wav file and import it into Audacity, where I do my editing. THEN I save it as an MP3 file - and I don't have to pay extra or wait for Cubase to catch up with itself.

All the best,

--Jodi

Well... I'm still not fond of Cubase, but I am in awe of the people on this here website!!!

Jodi, was so patient and understanding of my situation and guided me expertly through the system to allow me to do just as she recommended and get the thing loaded into an MP3 format so I could get my very first audition submitted on time!

Also a big shoutout To Steve Royal for his generous offer to provide a mixdown for me.

Your extreme selflessness will not be forgotten, folks.

I am so lucky to have found this place - and you guys!

Have a great week everybody! Let's knock 'em outta the park!!!
