Default Yay! My New Website is Up!

Hi Julie! You asked if I would post my new website when it was up and running...it finally is! My goal was to have a fun, young site with a touch of personality- all while making it easy to hear my demos and contact me.

I'd love to hear any feedback! (from anyone and everyone!) Don't worry- you won't hurt my feelings, I've already received some negative feedback. It's ok- we each have our own likes and dislikes. If you see any technical issues, I'd really appreciate if you let me know.

The layout was a take-off on my love of gardening...

Thanks again Julie for such a great forum!

Kara,

Great web site. My daughter and I watch a lot of Anime especially stuff from ADV and FUNimation. I'm sure we have heard you a number of times. I'll have to tell my daughter that you are listed here. I'm sure she will be excited.

Do you plan to attend Anime Vegas this year?

Jon

Thank you Jon! I worked on DragonBall (Upa, Pocowatha), DragonBall Z (Videl, Goten, Gotenks, Lime), Yu Yu Hakusho (Murugu) and Solty Rei (Celica). Anime is such a blast to voice (if only it paid better!)

Unfortunately, I won't be at Anime Vegas. I kept my Cons close to home this year attending Animazement (SO much fun!) and ConCarolinas. Since I'm in NC, it's hard to get back to Texas to voice projects. Maybe down the road I will be able to get back and do more anime work- I miss it! Then maybe I'd be invited to more cons :) heheh.

Good site, Kara,
I was wondering about the bee...but now I understand... you love gardening!
\
Jason Sikes (Village Green) is working on a new site for me as well... I'm in process of turning voice-overs.com into a site that's more for talent... forum, workshop calendar (in process) probably more expanded store... maybe post some demo pages... not sure exactly...

and we're going to make voiceoverchocolate.com the site for my voice work. (currently the domain points to voice-overs.com) Jason created a design with a chocolate covered strawberry... and each demo is a piece of chocolate. It's not done yet...mostly cos I've been busy and it took me months to send him all the demos he needed!

BTW, Kara... does Stephanie do PR for you? Whoever does, is doing an incredible job!

Julie- how exciting! I really enjoyed working with Jason. He worked fast and always ansered my questions.

The bee was a major decision. I wasn't sure about it at first. Once we added the button to make it go away- I thought it was much better! I just wanted some type of 'movement' on the site. The original bee was much more natural, but I worried it looked like a florist! So, we made it a cartoon bee (considering I do so much character VO). I'm glad you like it! I can't wait to see your site!

I wish I could afford to have anyone help me with PR! I've been very fortunate to be surrounded by great people. I've been doing VO for 11 years, so I've met some amazing talent. The publicity has been 50% luck, and 50% incredibly hard work :)

Thanks Mike- thanks Tony! Nancy is wonderful, and I love Big Fish- very classy folks!

VO is a small world- I'm running into familiar faces all the time! I just changed my blog format and finally wrote out the story of the bee...it's one I'll never forget!

Thanks again guys!

Kara,
I'm confused by several things. There is a TON of white space at the top of your site. Is that on purpose? Wouldn't it be better to have it load higher on the page? I'm using FireFox and have to scroll to see the page.

I personally shut off the bee. He also flies outside the box.

To all:
The challenge with a site produced in FLASH is that there is almost NOTHING for search engines to work on. Maybe being found by search engines is not that big a deal to you. But the mechanisms (Meta tags, text, etc) that draw search engines are not in your pages. If you are currently listed, your results will slowly deteriorate until you don't show up anywhere meaningful.

I've had people say, "That doesn't matter. I just want my customers to find my site and they know my URL." Most web sites are for marketing and generally to new customers/clients, especially for talent. So why not take a shot at being found.

Anyhow Kara, your site if very pleasing to the eye. Looks nice!
