Thank you for the nice comment Kat!
Grant- Those are great questions! I'm not sure why so much white space is showing up for you. We made the site so it could be easily viewed by every monitor and computer. That's why it doesn't fill th page- many sites are created too large for standard computers. We went with the white space to make it look clean. Much like a piece of art hanging on a wall. I think there are a few systems that will see more white than others. As to the search problem...you are absolutely correct- and everyone should remember this in site development. It was extremely important to me. There is a method used called the SWF object method that makes the words on the site searchable regardless of the flash image. My brilliant designer knows all the details, I don't, but he assures me it will be searchable. In addition, in the next few weeks, I am having the site fully optimized with keywords, etc to assure it stays high on the search engines. I really appreciate the honest and thorough feedback- it really helps! Thank you! |

Kara, I'll admit to knowing next to nothing about Flash other than limitations. I KNOW others that I've redone sites for have seen dramatic drop-offs in traffic after switching to Flash. Glad your designer knows some tricks. I'd love to know more about how its pulled off.
I had a full-time graphics/branding/web design company for over 5 years. I do occasional sites here and there now. I tired to attach a screen shot of your site on load, but the forum wouldn't accept it. I understand the "not filling the page" thing, especially using Flash, but I'd try to get it higher. Almost looks as if its centering both horizontally and vertically. |

However, you should be aware that while keywords will be useful for searches powered by the Yahoo and Live (MS) engines, Google (just like Voice123 at the moment) completely ignores keywords. UPDATE: I just did a little Googling and there is a bit of hocus pocus that webmasters can do to get a Flash-only page to be properly searchable -- as well as to make it conform with the European Union's accessibility standards, which apparently Flash pages do not. Anyone who's interested can read about it here: http://ventureskills.wordpress.com/2...the-seo-devil/
