One of the invitation only pay to audition companies I have been associated with in the past (but chose to not renew this year due to the low rate of the jobs that were coming in) used to send out auditions with that very thing in the audition. Your audition will serve as the final product if you are selected (or words to that effect). Happened 3 or 4 times for me over the years I was associated with them.

Connie: Yeah, seems like it's uncommon, but not un-heard-of. The audition did say that... it was about 6 months ago, so I'd completely forgotten about it!

I had that happen once.

I auditioned years ago for a British Caledonian Airways commercial. They really directed us a lot for an audition (two voicer auditioned in the studio) which surprised me. They directed us so much, in fact, that I thought they didn't like our read... because to be directed that much in an audition is unusual.

Then my agent called to tell me I got the job... but that I didn't have to go do it!
THAT was really nice.
