I got my first radio job in 1980 in the town of West Branch, MI. That was back when radio was fun and before the consultants destroyed the business of entertainment.
(I am not bitter!!!)

One of the first commercials I got to record was for an appliance store in the town of Houghton Lake. The copy was mainly to promote a fancy-dandy washing machine. I lost track of how many takes it took me to get through the words "three water level settings". Something in my mind, mostly due to inexperience, continued to cause me to say "Three Wattle Lever Settings". It was most frustrating. Especially with the client in the room, (usual for this particular client) as well as both the GM and the PD who were mostly there to see how the FNG would do. It was a really bad start.

Default I was voicing a film role

Just a small, background tv reporter bit, and the city I had to refer to was Springdale. It took me several takes to stop saying Spring*field*, and I didn't even notice it when I kept doing it wrong. The poor director would say, It's Spring*dale*, not Spring*field*, and next take, damned if I didn't say Springfield again.

Too much Simpsons, darnit!

Had a bit of trouble with these today...

Hierarchical SCADA system
and for some reason, open standard operations systems and distributed network-based control systems. (The distributed network based got me... dont' know why...sounded good in my head... but the tongue couldn't do it!)
