Hey Gang!
I wasn't quite sure where to post this. Not quite a demo or an audition, but it is an interesting vocal/mental exercise. Below is my recording of a quirky little story I'd seen a few years back. And... here's the script for those of you that like a challenge (you'll need to read along while listening too): Quote:
I'd love to hear some other takes on this, or get your feedback on this odd concept. Cheers, Joe J Thomas Joe J. Thomas Acting Portfolio |

That's so funny! It reminds me of another one I have stashed away in the deep dark recesses of my files...now I'll have to dig it out and will post it ...when I find it. It begins "Un petit d'un petit setonne et wolle" or some such...it had a "French" twist to it. :-)

I used to know a South African one, but it'll take a bit of digging to find that. Cheers, Joe J Thomas Joe J. Thomas Acting Portfolio |

My Dad used to have one - Ladle Rat Rotten Hut. I don't know if he has it written out anywhere, maybe I can find it.
Okay, I found it, Google and Wikipedia rock. Apparently a whole book full of these types of stories was written in the 1940s by Howard L. Chase, a professor of French. The book is called Anguish Languish, and the whole text is available here: The Complete Anguish Languish Site This one's Ladle Rat Rotten Hut. The Complete Anguish Languish Site Apparently the original Goldilocks title was "Guilty Looks Enter Tree Beers". Also, there's another book, I think it's what speechlady referred to, called "Mots d'Heures, Gousses, Rames" [Mother Goose Rhymes]. By Luis d'Antin van Rooten. Available on Amazon (so's Anguish Languish, but through 3rd party sellers starting at $155 dollars!). These are fun! |

Wow! Great find Alexis!
Looks like "Guilty Looks" is closer to the original fairy tale than the "Goal Deluxe" version. Who knew there was so much of this out there - what a treasure! Ok, so who's next? I'd love to hear another one of these read aloud. Joe J Thomas Joe J. Thomas Acting Portfolio Quote:

It reminds me of the story my father used to tell about the guy with the Yiddish accent ordering breakfast:
F U N E X ? V F X. F U N E M ? V F M. OK I F M N X.

Hey, Pamela Lewis used that one in her book "Talking Funny for Money" as an accent exercise!

Thanks for posting the link to that book...what a hoot!
Another fun one is the 'kids' book...CDB! by William Steig. Okay here's mine...couldn't find the original so this one is "my" creation!!! French speakers please try not to cringe at all this babble. Un petit d’un petit s’etonnez vol Un petit d’un petit aide ingrate te folle Alizer quinze hors saisons alizer quinze mienne Coude note pui temp petit d’un petit bec tous gazeux regagne and...on second thought... 'Allons-y quinze hors saisons allons-y quinze semaines... ' would read better for the third line. Last edited by speechlady; 10-09-2007 at 01:45 PM. |
