Oh wait. That was fun or funny or crazy. It was a nightmare.

But it did really happen.
Yeah, not to beat a dead horse(or a live one for that matter) but what ever came of that?

I got paid in cigars a couple times. Well worth it to me. I am a cigar freak. Now if I can just get paid in single malt scotch too

I currently have a client who is paying me half in cash and half in tailoring services. Whether I ever cash that in is yet to be seen.
One of my first Voice123 gigs was for a web designer/graphic artist in England. In lieu of cash, he paid me by cleaning up my logo. That barter arrangement was my idea, by the way. He was willing to pay cash. But I think we both ended up with a deal.

Tradeouts are a very nice way to go if you need something specific done. Free food at the restaurant? DING! Free tailoring? DING! Free web service? DING!

To tell the truth, I wouldn't mind doing a VO trade out with a web design company so I can have my own website.

By the way, I got the signed check at 9am this morning. I almost cried. Being out of a job for a year can do that to you I guess.

But yes, what ever became of the santa thing? Did you follow up on it?

I used to do some contract work for Joan Kroc (Ray Kroc's who founded McDonald's widow) and got a Christmas card with $50 of McDonald 's coupons inside. She also owned the SD Padres at the time, but there wre no game tickets enclosed. Ate a lot of Big Macs in the 80's.

Actually, I DO have a pretty sweet deal with a lady who is a local video producer and a friend and a master chef who hosts her own cooking show and has a line of gourmet coffees she sells. I'm a coffee connoisseur who appreciates the good stuff and grinds my own beans and she barters pounds of outstanding coffee to me in exchange for the occasional narration of little :15 local spots or scripting of same.

I haven't had to buy coffee in about 2 years and couldn't be happier about it!

I have an occasional client who owes me $50 since the end of March. That's a lot of coffee beans.

Nothing ever came of it, Eric. The deadbeat never paid me. I've kept all of his contact info and if he tries to use my voice again this next Christmas for the same project I'll sue him. I'm dead serious.

That stinks Scott. I was really hoping it would have been resolved.

Well, I sometimes do the vocals for a local graphic/web designer who is also a musician and writes songs he'd prefer I sing. This last time, I did a couple of vocals for him and he did some advertising graphics for my VO for me. :) Considering how expensive graphic design can be, I thought it was a decent exchange.

Sorry to hear you still haven't been paid for that Santa gig, Scott. That sucks.
