Hi Folks:
In the fine tradition of last year's Unofficial NBC Nightly News announcer auditions, we're doing it again for Jimmy's show which starts in March. I hope you'll enter here. It's just for fun. Thanks.

I feel so important doing this! I picture drinks and *whatever* with the Roots post-show... Jimmy's passed out in the corner... 6 rodeo clowns are spraying him with Cheez Wiz... the Geico Gecko is swinging from the rafters... we're passing around the mic doing impressions of 50's-era announcers...

Hi folks:
You are all sounding great! We're going to keep this one open for a bit as there is no real rush...so if you need to wait until after Christmas that's cool. Hopefully we can make it kinda like a joyful, fun bridge thru to the new year, we new entrants coming in every day. Then we'll start the voting! One VO communicated to me the feeling that doing this event like this was a bit odd because we haven't even heard the show's new announcer, given the fellow a chance etc. My response was, and I had hoped I made it clear in the posting, that this year's event and likely any future ones is NOT in response to a bad performance as last year's was. Last year we were being openly critical....this year absolutely not! I sincerely hope Steve Higgins rocks and has fun and a long run on Fallon. He's got the job and nobody in this event is going to take it from him. This unofficial audition is not at all about him or his performance or anything like that. We come not to bury Steve, nor to praise Steve nor is it even about Steve. It's about us. The more judgmental NBC News/Douglas audition may have been the catalyst for the first "faux-dition" (as Jim Feldman coined it) but I would like to refine the event. That call to arms is over, now let's just have fun! I'm trying to develop this event to a point where once a year we all participate in a kind of "dream audition" for a role many of us (OK maybe just me) aren't getting called in for. So let's pretend we DID get called for a big network audition...we're actors (voice or otherwise)...it's what we do! To me, that's fun but maybe I'm a bit bent. Giving voice over talents and our community at large the chance to share in this kind of talent show is awesome. My goodness....we have foreign language voice talents participating now who can barely speak English but are trying out and made a pretty fine effort in my opinion. Fan-freakin-tastic! Maybe we should called it the "I'm dreaming of big VO audition Christmas Spectacular". Or not. Any way, consider it my holiday present to everybody. Give it your absolutely best shot (to quote radio talk show host Jim Rome "have a take, don't suck") and enjoy the camaraderie and the shared effort. That's MY grown-up Christmas wish. Thanks for your friendship and your time.

My secret fantasy for this contest is that the producers of the show somehow get wind of it and invite the top 5 or 10 vote getters to appear on the show to recreate their "auditions" just for fun.

That would be a hoot but I don't want to get ANYONE's hopes up. BTW we're up to 40 audition in just a week (and Christmas week no less) I expect we'll get even more this week as everyone heads home to New Years. Great fun. I hope you're all enjoying it too. Best always, - Peter

Peter -- Check the link for Brian Baumgartner's demo. When you click on it, it play's Scott Pollak's demo. (Clicking on Scott's link also plays Scott's demo, as it should.)
