Often in bad traffic I'll burst out with my best Monsieur Magoo/Jim Backus exclaiming: "ROAD HOG!!!"

Sorry to be the voice of dissension (not that I don't like Mr. Magoo...), but kinda a Bill Murray fan here... Scrooged is a very under-appreciated film.

I liked him in Lost in Translation. Good film. But, seriously, for Scrooge, the best performance by far was Alastair Sim.

Just looking at the guy makes me laugh. (I found Lost in Translation hard to watch for that very reason ...) Well, ok. Alastair Sim is the *classic* - so I gotta agree. But the original choices were Bill Murray or Mr. Magoo (wasn't the guy who did his voice the same guy that played Mr. Howell in Gilligan's Island?) so I stated my preference between the two. :)

Hi Gang!!
I finally made it over here.

About a yr ago, I had posted at 123's Savvy Forum about a job I landed through them, and Julie was ever so kind to ask me to share the encouragement at this site. I did just that, lurked periodically, but eventually found the 123 Savvy forum a "home" for communicating.

I was on vacation last week, enjoying well deserved R&R in the Virginia mountians on a farm while visiting an old friend from childhood. When I came home, I went to the 123 Savvy forum to say "HI" to my VO friends I've made at that site since the spring of 2007. That's when I discovered the change and I'm still rather dumb struck.

I'd rather not say anything negative about that. Instead, I want to be optimistic and thank everyone in advance for welcoming the Savvy members to this forum. Suddenly, we're nomads looking for a home. Julie and other VO.com members: Thank you for allowing the surge of VO talents into your space.

I'm looking foward to posting here more often.
Huge cyber hugs to Diane H, Colin Campbell, Dave DeAndrea and many others who emailed me about the change of venue. Love ya!

Allison

Hi Gang:

I have never really been (and never will be) a "Pay To Player" regarding my 20+ years as a Pro VO so, not much I can say about the whole V123, Voices, Planet, etc. stuff...

But...

Taking away a community from many VOs (as seems apparent from reading all of your posts) that was apparently just good, solid, open "back and forths," seems quite DYSTOPIAN.

Perhaps the "non-commercial" forums (like this one, VO-BB, Universe, etc.) that are not run as a part of a "Pay To Play" enterprise are the way to go.

Good luck...Mitch (Don't post much anywhere but, I'm with you in spirit)

Glad you decided to join us, Allison. (And I hope you had a fantastic vacation!)

And welcome, Mitch! Glad to see you here (I'm pretty sure we've talked about your studio set-up before...)

You know, as much as it sucks that the Savvy board is no more, it's great to see all the folks coming over here so that those of us who weren't regulars on Savvy will get the chance to know them better.
