New LinkedIn Voice Over Professionals Group

For those of you who are members of LinkedIn, we have just started a new User Group called the "Voice Over Professionals" group.

You can join by looking for the group logo
under "Groups & Associations" on the profile page of any of our members. As I type this, that list includes Haneen Arafat, Lance Blair, Jim Feldman, Diane Havens, September Day Leach, Chris Mezzolesta, Steve O'Brien, Scott Paxton, Michael Schoen, Connie Terwilliger, John Weeks, and me.

Maybe I'm missing something...which is not unusual in my case. Is the purpose of being on LinkedIn to find work or to do what we do on this board? I haven't visited my account in a while. I mostly go after the producer or video editor...folks that can send me work.

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure what the benefit is supposed to be, although what I have found it most useful for is finding people. In the past month I have managed to locate about a half dozen people with whom I had lost contact over the years -- one each on Facebook and MySpace, and the rest on LinkedIn. One guy is someone I last spoke with just a couple of years ago but the others were "lost" for anywhere from 5 to 40 years.
