Hello fellow voice actors. After seeing some good response to my mention of Twitter in the shoutbox, I wanted to post something more permanent and see how some of these new and semi-new utilities might be used in the voice-over community.
Any other voice actors using Twitter.com? It seems to be a fun and useful technology for me. I am able to keep up to date with some of my close podcasting friends and some other voice artists as well. I noticed that the fine folks at Voices.com are just now into Twitter! How about you? My Twitter profile is at Twitter / tiwwh And, how about LinkedIn.com? Christopher Penn at the Financial Aid podcast recently turned me on to this very popular social networking site. It's for all types of business and networking. It's been around a few years, but I am just now starting to work on it. As a voice actor, are you using LinkedIn? And, how is it working out for you? Please post your LinkedIn profile address, if you would like, and share how we voice actors might use it. Although my profile isn't complete yet, it can be found at LinkedIn: Wayne Henderson Thanks. Hi Wayne,
I joined Twitter this week - you'll find me under BritishFemaleVO. Also on Linkedin as Alison Pitman. I think I need to spend more time on these sites to really get the benefit from them. Also need to get over that 'british reserve' of sending out invites to other members! I'd be interested to hear how others find these sites and whether any lucrative jobs have come their way through using them? Cheers! |

hi, wayne
i've been on linkdin for a year or so (at the invitation of a client) but admit i really don't know how to use it as a marketing device. that's what's held me back joining twitter and these other online communities. it's not that i don't need another social network...i just want to make sure i'm using them for something more than just another chat room. will be most interested to hear how more experienced folk are using these sites to seek out work. rg

I'm not quite sure how well a LinkedIn serves voice actors. I'm oin LinkedIn, but I also do quite a few other things with regards to advertising, gaming and other industries.
I have asked and answered numerous questions on LinkedIn and havbe often receioved intelligent, quality answers. I posted a question 2 days ago with regards to my voieover hat asking if there was a quality way that one could market themselves to agency folks, etc. This is the first time in my history of asking and answering questions on LinkedIn that I have received 0 responses. Nada, zip, zilch, zero Just my personal experience. |
