My voice123 runs out in October and I will not be renewing. A prime reason why is the lowball offers. Sometimes, if they're not that far off, I'll still audition for ones that interest me and quote my standard rate. By doing that though you run the risk of having them rate you lower since you went over their budget. I've learned to ignore ratings but somehow they apparently affect the auditions sent to you. Add to that the new "tags" and they are just cluttering up the system.
While I wish voices.com gave you the ability to see how many people auditioned and if yours was opened, I still prefer their service. Send it out and move on.

All I can say is that I did a month at V123 and although I got work...I hated the system...Then they raised the prices...ouch. The rating system is stupid to me. I mean com' on, if they (clients) didn't want you for their spot or project, or more likely you just weren't right for "THAT" spot/project, why would they give you a good rating. It's stupid...and don't get me started on the slotting of what auditions they will send you on. Don't dare audition for a $100 job...that's all you'll see.
I've been with voices dot com since April and have gotten 5 jobs...all good paying, 2 with repeat biz. They've been real easy, and extremely cordial to work with...Can't say enough good things. 2 cents worth...I'm out. Jason |

Howdy Y'all,
New guy here. I've read this thread with interest. I sail through a few other VO forums and find almost identical discussions about V123 ... and the same kudos for Voices.com. I've just ventured into the VO realm and am learning an awfully lot from all of you. Thanks Being an old worn out war horse (military, police and general adrenaline junkie for a number of years) I have learned to listen (a lot) before shooting my mouth off ... or run the risk of getting mine shot off (literally ;o) And the more I listen to folks like you, the more encouraged I become that even at this 'later' stage in the game, I can make it in the VO industry. That being said, it's off to Voices.com I go. I just finished a month's freebie with V123, bit on every nugget they sent my way ... even a couple of freebies and suddenly found that I was getting audition invitations that were already closed!?! That's kinda like offering a bit of food to a starving man, then pulling it away just as he reaches for it .............. NOW THAT JUST AIN'T VERY NICE!! Peace and Blessings to all Y'all Ran Alan Ricard |

There are, of course, pro's and con's to each. I'm thankful to have booked a fairly considerable amount of work from V123--to include a recurring role as the bonus features narrator on NBC/Universal's DVD releases of Curious George. In fact, I'm going to LA tomorrow to record another session at Technicolor Studios--the fifth such booking since first landing this job last year. Yes, I know that's something of an anomaly, but... it's paid off nicely. And there have been a number of other repeat clients I've gotten from V123. Smartcast has its good points and bad, to be sure. I've never understood the algorithm for who gets what read when; I've never understood the ratings matrix, either. Last I looked I was in the 42nd percentile or something like that. NBD, frankly, as long as I'm booking. I do like the fact that you can get some kind of feedback (potentially) from seekers, though often times that's just a tease. BWDIK?

Cool. One of my good friends from college is one of the writers on Curious George. I TiVo all the episodes and delete the others but keep his.
I agree about the relative value of Voice123. While it can be frustrating, there are some good jobs to be had. I have gotten some nice repeat business from several clients I was introduced to through Voice123. As I posted in another forum, both Voice123 and Voices.com have heve repaid my investment in dollars, but neither has come close to repaying my investment of time.
