Hi Jacob,
I saw that and was blown away by the flat rate shipping of $250!

Aaah.....!!! LOL! Didn't see that. Well... if you're in the neighborhood, you can pick it up and save the shipping... or something.

I'd betcha that ya can't. I have a feeling that if you lived across the street from dude, he would still charge ya shipping. That's where the money comes from on those sites.

While I can't speak with certainty, I certainly wouldn't be surprised. I've seem many an auction happen where the seller undervalues the items, and charges exhorbatent shipping fees. I've know people who have called to arrange alternate dleivery methods ( a friend lives in the area and has agreed to pick it up, the seller is in the same location as the buyer and the buyer wants to pick it up, or they have a special deal with their own shipper) and the seller refuss to negotiate those methods.

many times, that where the money is made in the scheme of the sale.

I'm thinking about asking him if that's a mistake and should be $25 instead of $250.
Maybe the buyer could charge a $225 "buyers fee"!

That's because the seller doesn't pay ebay a commission on the postage fee. I believe it's a common practice to save money, I'm surprised ebay doesn't flag these.

I don't think I'd consider buying pre-owned studio equipment on ebay. I used to buy rare Barbies a few years back , tho. hahah. I agree, it's different now and I rarely frequent the place.
