That's a tough question without more information.
First of all, I charge different rates depending on the type of job. (commercial, narration, elearning, ivr, etc.) Then usage comes into play. Sometimes I chage by finished minutes. Other times, for longer narrations, I charge by the hour. If the client brings me a lot of work I will give a quantity discount. However, realize that more than 9 times out of 10, a client who tells you he'll bring you lots of work... doesn't. His idea of "lots of work" is not usually enough to make it worth while. So... When I give a quantity discount, it's for work booked and paid for all at once. Don't be reeled in by clients who want to keep you very busy for slave wages! The more time you spend on low budget projects, the less time you have for jobs that pay fair wages. They're not doing YOU a favor by "letting" you work for them a lot at those rates. They're ensuring that they get you dirt cheap over and over. Don't be a bottom feeder!
