Default Deadline looming - Please Help!

Hey guys and gals,

I need your collective genius once again. Especially yours, Colin. I'm putting together a commercial for a client and it sounds fine when I play back in my DAW (Sony Acid Pro6), but when I render it to a wav or mp3 and listen back, it sounds choppy. I've checked the sample rate, it's 44.1, 16bit. Not sure what's going on. I've got to have this to them tomorrow. Ugh, I hate deadlines. Thanks in advance, guys!

I see you have a Gateway 2.2 Ghz which is plenty of horsepower for VO. Does Sony Acid 6.0 pro not record in WAV? I'm wondering if having to convert from whatever file the SONY program uses to WAV is the problem? Do the MP3 and WAV both skip in the same place? Have you tried re-booting (clearing out the RAM) and playing back again. Sometimes with multi-tracks system resources can get mighty low. Do you have any other program running that may tie up your computer's resources while recording or converting the files?

Sorry to ask so many questions and that I'm not Colin. Maybe he'll pop in here for you.

Default here's a little help

I suggest everything Bill has, and do this as well, increase the cache of your program from whatever it is now to double the amount, this will enable the program to utilize it's resources to playback the files. Just an FYI wav files are HUGE, I convert everything to mp3 to conserve space on my hard drives. Saving at least at 192 kps stereo/128kps mono will not only save space on your drives but they load faster. Also close everything BUT the program your playing back on and see if it continues to skip. I'm thinking that there's not enough RAM as Bill suggests to run the audio

Just my 2 cents

Scott

Bill and Scott,

Thanks for the assistance! Bill, the wav and mp3 do skip in the same place. I rebooted to clear out any RAM cobwebs, as well as increased my cache. I'll see if that makes the difference. I'm good for this session, as Chuck Taylor stepped in and took my original files and mixed them for me. I'll get this issue fixed before I take any more work on, though! Thanks guys!
