Hey all! I've been a lurker for a while on several message boards, and figured I might as well jump in. I record the odd radio spot, but make most of my living directing voice over in LA. Oh and I run a blog too (who doesn't right). Looking forward to participating!

I just didn't want to start my first post here off with blog spam, LOL!
Thanks for checking it out!

Looks like you've been blogging for a while - great variety of posts.

I liked the one comparing two mikes (sm57 / mxl990). I've got an sm58 and an mxl990usb myself, but haven't compared the two side-by-side yet. Sounds like a good weekend activitiy for me...

Cheers,

Yeah it's been a year now. I've had a blast with it, and am getting a really positive response from it.
I really love tinkering with gear. It's like a painter with brushes I guess. I've got a pretty crazy mic cabinet right now. It's a little ALL over the place at the moment.
I just think it's really more important to know HOW to use you your kit, than WHAT kit you might have. It's really why I started bogging in the first place.
To many of the actors I worked with at Abram's Artists were getting milked at places like Guitar Center because they needed to have "the best". Of course they offered no support.
Kinda broke my heart when one actress after spending about $4500 on kit, couldn't make her recordings sound any better than when she just had a mobilepre and sm58.
Hence the birth of Some Audio Guy...

'Ello. Welcome aboard to the boards. Aside from audio, I like the whole look and feel of your blog as well. Wayne, the Heil PR-40 mic user.
