Hi everyone,
I'm just starting out in this crazy voiceover world. I'm studying with a VO coach here in NYC and taking some improv classes. My background is in comedy (improv, sketch) and I recently did an animation for a friend. You can watch it here:

Anyway, I have a few questions:
A lot of you do jobs from home studios. Is it possible to make a living without having that type of equipment?
I'm hoping to cut my first demo in the next few months. Any advice on how to get my name out there once I have the demo? I love animation but I've mostly been working on ads with my coach. Should my first demo be all ads, or characters or??? I know a lot of animators here in New York and I'd like to be able to showcase characters in my demo. But I feel I also need to be marketable for more commercial jobs. I'm just worrying about the financial strain of making multiple demos. Words of wisdom??
