When I joined the forum I entered my name and password and checked the box that says to automatcally log me in. But several times today I have come here and found that not only did I not get logged in automatically, I had to enter my name and password twice before being recognized.
I imagine I could just go and delete my cookie and have the site bake me another one, but before I do, I want to determine if the problem is on my end.

I have the same thing happen at voices.com. I click the keep me logged in box, but I still have to re-enter the info next time I show up. I supposed there are more frustrating things in the world...

Hi Lee,
I'm no tekkie expert, just a VO expert... but it's been my experience that the difficulty with sites remembering me is related more to the computer I'm using, than the site.
For some reason, on my mac (which I hate) in the studio... other functions don't work, but cookies work well. On my laptop, I must have security settings too high or something because I can't get sites to remember me very well!

Scott, I've found at Voices.com that if you click on the My Account tab first, you can get into the site without having to log in again.
I will look into this. there are a few things i can think of that may cause this and i will work on what i can on our end.

I'm having the double login problem also. And it only happens on this site. My other site that is powered by identical phpBB software lets me in the first time.
It's mostly annoying at this point. It lets you in and then logs you right back out. The feature that's missing because of this is the "View Posts Since Last Login," since they're all reset at this point.

Thanks. That leads me to believe the problem resides at least partially with the site. It hasn't happened to me after I made the initial post, so I'm thinking it may have had something to do with the maintenance that was done here earlier today. It is probably also related to the disappearing avatars. (I'm assuming I am not the only one experiencing missing avatar syndrome). I went to my profile and re-uploaded mine, so it's back but there are others that seem to have vanished.

As I've cruised around tonight I've noticed a lot of avatars that are missing. I suspect as you did that it's related to today's activities.

On the other paw, I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.6 on windows XP with a cablemodem connection, and haven't had any login issues.

Just happened to me again (double login).

Sorry Guys! Dan will check it out.
Interesting about Firefox, Amanda.
That's what I use on mac, and it's the one that always remembers me. I do actually have to double login when I go to admin section...but I assumed that was more of a security thing...which I appreciate.

Actually the double login is more of an annoyance than anything else. It resets all the topics to "already read" status so when you do finally get in and select "View Topics Since Last Login," there's nothing there.
Nothing earth shattering, just kind of annoying, that's all.

Well, after successfully logging in, leaving without loggin out, and still being logged in the next time -- all with IE7 -- I thought everything was hunky-dory. However, I just opened IE7 and clicked the link to the forum and discovered that I was no longer logged in. So I opened Firefox, clicked on the link for the forum, and I was logged in. So I'm guessing it is an IE issue.

That makes sense to me, because I'm always logged in on Firefox (on my mac) but seem to have to log in repeatedly at times with IE.
Wish I could help!
Maybe Firefox is good for PC> Amanda is using it. I only use it for MAC cos IE is awful on mac. But I might try it on PC too...just for grins!
Thanks for posting!

I think it's definitely an Explorer issue. As much as I hate my mac, I use Forefox on it...and I never have trouble logging in... but with IE on PC, I often have to log in repeatedly, and it never seems to save my login info, even though I do check the box.
I'm actually thinking of trying Firefox for PC. I just havn't had tiem to check it out.
I can tell you that it's not a forum issue. It's related to the program you use. So I can't do anything about it. Wish I could!!!!!!

I'm not 100% convinced of that. I think it could be a Forum + IE issue. The reason I say that is that I participate in several other forums that use the same phpBB software as you do (including Voice Over Savvy) and this is the only one that behaves in this way.
In any case, it's no big deal. My workaround it that I use Firefox for this forum, although I generally use IE7 for everything else.
